World and Classical Languages Program Philosophy
Naperville School District 203 offers five languages in the World and Classical Languages Program: Chinese (Mandarin), French, German, Latin, and Spanish. The primary goal in the World and Classical Languages Program is to help students acquire the knowledge and skills to attain a reasonable level of proficiency in the areas of listening, speaking, reading and writing. We believe that the study of any one of the languages offered helps to develop a better understanding of the English language, provides an opportunity to appreciate other cultures, and improves a students' vocabulary. No one language is any easier than another, and they all require the same discipline and effort to succeed. Learning a second language provides the skills necessary to learn other languages more easily.
