  • Scheduling Window for Conferences Open Through September 28th.

Posted by Malee Farmer at 9/12/2017

We are so excited for you to begin scheduling conferences September 12th. PTC Wizard will close for scheduling conferences on September 28th website at: https://naperville203.ptcwizard.com.

You will use your Infinite Campus portal username and password to log into PTC Wizard. Please refer to the PTC Wizard Parent Guide (PTC Wizard Guía para los Padres) for additional instructions. Anyone with limited computer access can receive assistance with conference scheduling by calling the school at 630-420-6363.

If you need a translator for the Spanish language, please call Annette Herrera at (630) 420-6364. She is one of our counselors and speaks Spanish.
Just a reminder that availability can fill up quickly in the fall. If your student is performing well, please do not feel the need to sign up for a conference with every teacher. The middle school concept of core academic teams means that all teachers communicate with each other. If you only have concerns in one class, that teacher can communicate with the team.

    Thanks!

    ¡Gracias!

  • Importance of Conferences

Posted by Malee Farmer at 9/8/2017

I wanted to talk to you about a TALK203 communication you received from the District about scheduling your parent/teacher conferences. Research and experience tell us that a strong partnership between home and school is important to student success. Parent/Teacher Conferences are a great way to strengthen this partnership. We hope you take this opportunity to sit down and talk with us about your student. Please know that conference availability can fill up quickly in the fall. If your student is performing well, please do not feel the need to sign up for a conference with every teacher. The middle school concept of core academic teams means that all teachers communicate with each other. If you only have concerns in one class, that teacher can communicate with the team.

To schedule conferences, District 203 uses an online application called PTC Wizard. You may log on September 12th and begin scheduling. The process is not lengthy, and the PTC Wizard Parent Guide (PTC Wizard Guía para los Padres) will help you navigate the system. You will access the PTC Wizard website at: https://naperville203.ptcwizard.com and login using your Infinite Campus portal username and password.

If you need a translator for the Spanish language, please call Annette Herrera at (630) 420-6364. She is one of our counselors and speaks Spanish.

All parents/guardians should verify that they have access to Infinite Campus Portal as soon as possible. If there are difficulties, or if you need to retrieve your password, contact Parent Support at parentsupport@naperville203.org or 630-420-6825. Please allow several days to establish an account as District staff will need to mail you via U.S. Postal Service an access key and instructions on how to set up your Infinite Campus Portal account. To learn more about Infinite Campus, click here.

PTC Wizard will close for scheduling conferences on September 28th. Anyone with limited computer access can receive assistance with conference scheduling by calling the school.

On behalf of our school staff, I want to thank you for planning to attend these conferences. We look forward to seeing you then.

    Malee Farmer
    Assistant Principal

Esperamos verlos.

  • Picture Day, Magazine Drive and More

Posted by Jeremy Christian at 8/28/2017

    Hello Patriots!

Welcome to the 2017 school year! We hope that your students are enjoying the start of another year and wish them continued success throughout the 2017-2018 school year. Here are several operational items/events we would like for you and your student to be aware of in the coming weeks:

    1. 6th, 7th and 8th grade families, teachers will start to officially mark students tardy September 5th. Next week we’ve asked teachers to keep a light profile of students reporting to class after the bell. Teachers and Counselors will assist students with additional strategies that may be used in order to report to class before the bell rings, if necessary. Please refer to the Attendance section of your school calendar if you have any questions.

    2. Picture day is this Thursday, August 31st. Picture Day Envelopes were previously mailed home by HR imaging. Students should bring these envelopes to school with them on Thursday and present them to the photographer during their PE class. If you need further information please contact HR Imaging partners.

    3. Our annual Magazine Drive Assemblies will take place on September 18th. We are very excited about our only fundraiser for the year! Watch out for more information!

    4. In order to make our school a safe place we humbly ask if parents would not make u-turns into the schools drive way. Students who walk or are dropped off should enter through Door #1. Please be safe and do not enter the parking areas during the hours posted.

    Jeremy E. Christian

  • Performance Series Testing

Posted by Malee Farmer at 8/23/2017

Performance Series testing will begin next week at Jefferson Junior High.  Performance Series is a computer adaptive test in reading and math.  Adaptive means that as a student answers each question the test changes to better determine a student’s ability level.  The benefit is that the test has vertical scale scores, which allows us to measure student growth during the year and across multiple years. It will also provide information to assist students, parents, and teachers to better prepare students for state testing and college entrance exams.  Performance Series testing is also aligned with the Common Core State standards.   For more information about Performance Series testing, please visit the Assessment page under Academics on the District website at https://www.naperville203.org/Page/2316.

The schedule for Jefferson is below.  Each team will determine their specific testing schedule during those days.  If a student misses a test with their team, then the counselor will test the student in the days afterwards.

    • 6th grade on Aug 28 & 29
    • 7th grade on Aug 29 & 30
    • 8th grade on Aug 30 & 31

Jefferson looks at all assessment information as a whole to better understand each student’s needs.  Please make sure your student gets a good night’s rest for both days.  Eating breakfast is also crucial on these days.  We appreciate your partnership to prepare students to perform their best.

    Thank you,

    Malee Farmer

    Assistant Principal

    https://www.naperville203.org/Page/2316.

    Gracias,

    Malee Farmer

  • Monthly Newsletter for August

Posted by Megan Ptak at 8/18/2017

    Patriot Families:

Good afternoon. These first two days of school have been amazing. It has been exciting to see the energy the students and the staff are bringing to Jefferson! And, I have no doubt this energy is here to stay.

As I mentioned in a previous communication, I will be sending monthly communication on the 3rd Friday of each month to inform you of upcoming important dates. Due to the amount of sports’ dates, I will not list all of the games and practices. However, I do encourage you to refer to the Jefferson calendar that your student should have brought home to you this week as it has dates for the entire school year including sporting events. I also encourage you to check the Jefferson web page for the most up to date information.

    August 18th—Back to School Bash 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
August 27th—District 203 Back to School Picnic hosted at Kennedy Junior High School 2 to 4 p.m.
    August 31st—School Pictures
    Sept. 4th—Labor Day—No School
Sept. 7th—Curriculum Night 7 p.m. (more info to come from assistant principal Malee Farmer)
Sept. 18th—Magazine Drive Kick-Off Assemblies for the students
Sept. 21st—Home and School Meeting 8:30 a.m. (all parents welcomed)
    Sept. 30th—JJHS 5K for Children’s Memorial Hospital 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Before closing, I want to inform all families of some lunchroom expectations from Aramark and Naperville 203. Continuing from previous years (and also found on page 9 of the school calendar), students/parents are not allowed to bring food for other students. Therefore, birthday treats, lunch for a group of students, etc. is not allowed. A parent may only bring food for their child due to safety for all (food allergies, etc.). Secondly, money is not loaned out to students for lunches. Jefferson will not provide the voucher system for students who do not have money on their accounts. Therefore, we ask that you please make sure to check with your student that they always have money for lunches or that they bring their lunch to school. Thank you for understanding the lunchroom expectations, and again this information may be found on page 9 of the Jefferson calendar.

The Jefferson staff and administration team is so excited for this school year. We want to partner with all Patriot families and we hope to see each of you in our building throughout the year. We are off to a great start, and know that the positive energy is here to stay! Have a great weekend.

    Sincerely,
    Megan Ptak, Principal

    Familias Patriot:

Buenas tardes.

    4 de septiembre—Labor Day—Festivo.

    Atentamente,
    Megan Ptak, directora

    Patriot Families:

Good afternoon. The Patriot staff is extremely excited to welcome your children back to school tomorrow!  Teachers have been planning, decorating and preparing for the Patriots to return.  We hope your children are as excited as we are for tomorrow.

We did want to let you know that after careful consideration and due to the fact that we were not able to secure the proper eye wear, students will not be participating in outdoor activities on Monday, August 21st during the eclipse.  All P.E. classes, lunch recess, etc. will take place indoors on this day.  Individual teachers may be building in curricular pieces about the eclipse within their classrooms.

As always, please know that we are here to support, partner and assist our Patriot families!  We look forward to working with you and your students this year.

    Familas Patriot,

Strategic Blueprint

  • District 203’s FOCUS 2020 Strategic Blueprint

Posted by Superintendent Dan Bridges at 6/27/2014
FOCUS 2020 is the strategic plan for comprehensive improvement between 2014 and 2020, designed in response to community feedback, best practice, and a vision for the future. Ultimately, this blueprint will advance the fulfillment of the district’s mission.

FOCUS 2020’s foundation is the Future Focus Community Engagement process that occurred over the course of a year where hundreds of members from across the community provided feedback to the district leadership regarding areas such as facilities, finances, measuring student success, and programs of study. Learn more about Future Focus by clicking on the specific “Quick Link” to the left of this text.

The Blueprint includes four “Strategic Focus” areas, namely to:
    1. Design and implement effective practices that promote learning experiences for all.
    2. Foster a high-performance culture focused on student learning.
    3. Steward resources effectively to promote student learning.
    4. Effective communication and community relations.
Each Strategic Focus then establishes “Commitments.” These commitments are what the district leadership pledges to accomplish within a distinct timeframe. Each commitment then includes a detailed “Action Plan” which will be accessible by the public upon final draft.

District administrators provided an update on Blueprint Commitments to the Board of Education at the July 27, 2015 meeting.  To watch that presentation, please click here
