  • 5 Essentials Survey for Parents

Posted by Malee Farmer on 1/15/2020

There is still time to provide your feedback to Jefferson for the 5 Essentials Survey.  Jefferson uses the results to help inform the school improvement plan.  We encourage you to provide your input on how you and your students feel about connectedness, satisfaction, interaction, involvement, and quality.  If you have more than one student attending different schools within the district, please make sure that you fill out a survey specifically for Jefferson.  We appreciate your support in building a community that all students feel safe and welcome.

To access the survey, please click here https://survey.5-essentials.org/illinois/?target_name=parent. Please type “DuPage” as the County. Please type Jefferson Jr High for the school.  You will see the school’s address of 1525 N. Loomis St., Naperville, IL 60563 populate in the drop down to confirm you have the correct school.

The opportunity for you to share will end on Friday, February 14, 2020.

  • Join in the 2020 All School Read: Refugee by Alan Gratz

Posted by Melinda Sherry on 11/26/2019 4:00:00 PM

    Patriot Families,

We are so pleased to announce that our All School Read this year is Refugee, by Alan Gratz. We were fortunate enough to have Mr. Gratz visit our school in October, and our students are so excited to read his work as a community. Refugee is the story of three children: Josef (whose story takes place in the 1930’s), Isabel (1994), and Mahmoud (2015). The stories of these three children as they flee unsafe homelands are packed with heart, adventure, and courage. Many of our students have already read this book, as it has been selected as a Rebecca Caudill nominee this year as well.

For students who read the book, we are raffling off other Alan Gratz titles through December and January. Please encourage your child to complete the Google form on the JJHS homepage if they read the book!

For families interested in purchasing the book, limited numbers of copies are available for sale in The Commons starting Monday, December 2, for $5. Additional copies may be available should the Commons supply run out.

Finally, our wonderful Patriot staff has volunteered their time and audiobook acting efforts to record the ENTIRE novel for our students. Due to copyright restrictions and our agreement with the author, the staff-recorded audiobook is only available through password protected websites (kids can find it on Canvas!).

All of this will culminate with community events on Open House in February (stay tuned!)!
