JJHS T203 Review

  • JJHS November Updates

Posted by Kimberly Fricke on 11/9/2020

    Dear Parents/Guardians,

We want to thank you for your continued support and patience with the implementation of eLearning and the new block schedule. Our students are engaging with teachers daily and making the most of their learning experience. We are incredibly proud of our students and teachers. This communication also serves to remind you of a variety of resources available for you to support your student(s) at home regarding the topics below.

    Student Support Period

During the student support period, staff are inviting students in for virtual sessions. These invites are for individual meetings, small group sessions, and/or open sessions to provide varying levels of support. Please check with your child to ensure they are attending these sessions when invited by their teacher.  If you need assistance with helping your student receive additional support or address missing assignments, please contact their teacher directly.

    Missing Assignments

Last week, parents received a report of missing assignments for their student’s classes. You will continue to receive these reports on a weekly basis. You will not receive an email if your student does not have missing assignments. If you have questions about the missing assignments, we encourage you to review the class’s Canvas page using the Canvas directions below. If you continue to have questions, we suggest you reach out to the classroom teacher.

    Canvas

Canvas is our learning management system and is where students will go to access the materials for their classes. Canvas is the system where teachers post content and assignments for class. Bulleted below are directions to make sure you and your child know how to get into Canvas.  As students access new courses when rotating through their exploratory classes, you will be able to access them without having to do additional steps.

    Infinite Campus Portal

Infinite Campus is a portal that provides you access to your student’s schedule, grades, and attendance data. As a reminder if you are logging into the Infinite Campus Portal to view schedules, most courses are trimesters at the junior high level; however, 6th grade Exploratory classes (Music, Art, FACS, PLTW) are on quarters.  There is a button to toggle between Trimesters and Quarters if you see a missing schedule for a period.  If you print out a paper copy, the quarters are listed at the bottom of the page.  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out.  We want to make sure that students know how to get into each class on their first day.

Also, as you are checking grades and attendance for your student, please reference the instructions below to access this information.

    Chromebook Login

If your student needs assistance with a chromebook issue, please review the Student Tech Help link below.  If the resource does not address and/or help to resolve the issue, please submit a help desk ticket by clicking on the Tech Support tab on the JJHS website homepage or on the link listed below.

    Sincerely,

    Kimberly Fricke, Prinicipal

  • Health Services Information

Posted by Tracy Phillips on 9/8/2020

    Dear Parents and Guardians,

Even though this school year is starting different than previous years, I wanted to reach out from the health office to let you know a few things you can do to help ensure that when we are able to meet in person we are ready to support your child.

    Medications for School:

Updated Medication forms for the 20/21 school year. Please ask your doctors to complete these forms.  These orders can be emailed or faxed to the health office
Start working on getting a set of medications for school, i.e. Epi-Pens and inhalers. Please do not drop off medication at school until students are in person.

    Specific Health Concerns:

If your child has specific health concern (diabetes, seizures, Crohns, et) I will be reaching out to set up phone/zoom meetings over the next few weeks to update care plans and gather information that teachers will need to know. If you would to like to meet sooner or your child has a new condition, please call me at 630-983-2146

    Physicals and Immunization Requirements:

If you have a 6th grade student, please remember that 6th grade physicals and immunizations are still required. You can email or fax me any completed forms.  Any 7th or 8th grade students interested in participating in sports this school year will need a completed sport physical. These physicals are good for 1 year and are needed to attend any practices or games/meets.  You can email or fax these completed forms to the health office.

If you need any assistance during this time, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.  We look forward to talking with you soon.  Stay Safe and Healthy.
