  • Attendance Communication

Posted by Eric Decker on 12/3/2018

    Good afternoon Patriot families,

As we get further into the second trimester, you may begin to receive email communication regarding your student’s tardiness to class. This communication is intended to include you in the conversation and resolution with your student. The emails are meant to inform and are set to follow our tardy policy. Jefferson’s tardy policy is based on the number of times a student has arrived late to the same class. After your student having arrived late the second time, you will receive your first letter. Each tardy after, you will receive an additional letter informing you of the late arrival and the corresponding consequence. The consequences are as follows: after the 3rd tardy, the teacher will conference with your student to discuss concerns. Arriving late 4 and 5 times will result in a lunch detention where the student and teacher will continue to work on solutions for arriving on time. A 1hour detention will be served for each of the 6th-8th times late. With 9 or more times arriving late to the same class in the same trimester, your student would be required to serve a Saturday School detention. We strive to help every student meet the expectation of being in class on time. The progressive nature of these consequences is designed to support and encourage each student to focus their attention on their classes and academic success. Please feel free to reach out if you believe you have received a letter in error.

    Sincerely,

    Eric Decker
    Jefferson Junior High
    Assistant Principal

    Buenas tardes familias Patriot,

    Atentamente,

    Eric Decker

  • School Report Card

Posted by Megan Ptak on 11/5/2018

    Patriot Families:

The Illinois State Board of Education annually releases a report card that shows how each school, district, and the state is performing on a wide range of educational goals. Every school receives an annual designation on the Illinois Report Card. The designation is based on the school’s overall data for all of the accountability indicators, as well as the data for individual student groups. There are four designations for schools including exemplary, commendable, underperforming and lowest performing.

I am proud to say that Jefferson received the designation of commendable which means
our school has no underperforming student demographic groups at or below the “all students” group of the lowest 5 percent of all Title 1 schools, but whose performance is not in the top 10 percent of schools statewide.

We are happy to say that a majority of our student population met the ESSA criteria for ELA and Math proficiency. We are continuing to work with student population subgroups in order to continue to grow in these areas.

Again, we are so proud of our students and staff for the hard work that is done in our schools. If you have any questions or would like to discuss further, please feel free to contact me.

    Sincerely,

    Megan Ptak, JJHS Principal

  • ALICE at Jefferson

Posted by Megan Ptak on 10/10/2018

    Good afternoon!

We wanted to reach out to our Jefferson Junior High families following the District announcement of the implementation of the A.L.I.C.E. safety response plan. We are very excited to be including A.L.I.C.E. in our response plans as it is a researched based response to crisis situations. Currently all staff have completed the first half of the A.L.I.C.E. response training in an online format. The training will be completed in January with on-site training by certified A.L.I.C.E. trainers. After this time the staff, along with the assistant principal will begin to inform students of the A.L.I.C.E. safety response through direct instruction and class discussions. The goal of this instruction is for students to be informed. In the event of an emergency, the expectation for students is to follow staff direction. With the integration of A.L.I.C.E. into our preparedness plan, we remain committed to the safety and security of our school community.

    ¡Buenas tardes!

Strategic Blueprint

  • District 203’s FOCUS 2020 Strategic Blueprint

Posted by Superintendent Dan Bridges on 6/27/2014
FOCUS 2020 is the strategic plan for comprehensive improvement between 2014 and 2020, designed in response to community feedback, best practice, and a vision for the future. Ultimately, this blueprint will advance the fulfillment of the district’s mission.

FOCUS 2020’s foundation is the Future Focus Community Engagement process that occurred over the course of a year where hundreds of members from across the community provided feedback to the district leadership regarding areas such as facilities, finances, measuring student success, and programs of study. Learn more about Future Focus by clicking on the specific “Quick Link” to the left of this text.

The Blueprint includes four “Strategic Focus” areas, namely to:
    1. Design and implement effective practices that promote learning experiences for all.
    2. Foster a high-performance culture focused on student learning.
    3. Steward resources effectively to promote student learning.
    4. Effective communication and community relations.
Each Strategic Focus then establishes “Commitments.” These commitments are what the district leadership pledges to accomplish within a distinct timeframe. Each commitment then includes a detailed “Action Plan” which will be accessible by the public upon final draft.
