During the winter we will go outside for recess if the wind chill index is at zero or above. The wind chill report will come from the National Weather Service. (Parent Handbook page 12 & 13) Please ensure your children come to Elmwood each day dressed appropriately for the weather. Students are allowed to play in the snow if they have snow pants AND boots on. Please know that we will continue to monitor the weather daily and make decisions in alignment with our District practice; however we will always consider the safety of our students at Elmwood. Our morning arrival procedures that are in place this school year, will assist us during these cold times to ensure that students will not be outside in the cold and instead they are all entering the building at 8:00 AM. Thank you again for your cooperation and please continue to send your children bundled up and ready for the weather. If your child needs to stay inside during recess for a medical reason, a doctor’s note must be submitted to the health office.
Please be aware and courteous to our neighbors surrounding Elmwood during pickup and dropoff times. We ask that you do not park in such a way that you block homes’ driveways (no matter how quickly it may be), and that you also do not park in the teacher and staff lots. Thank you!
