Curriculum Opt-Out

Naperville 203 is committed to providing a well-rounded education that equips our students with the knowledge, skills, and experiences needed to succeed in an ever-changing world. Our curriculum is designed to meet the highest educational standards, and to prepare students for a wide range of future opportunities.
Each subject in our curriculum plays a crucial role in developing various aspects of a student's intellectual, emotional, and social growth.Our commitment to providing a comprehensive education means that we cannot accommodate all requests to opt out of specific subjects.
In certain areas, Illinois law does allow parents/guardians the opportunity to opt their student(s) out of a class or course. These subjects/courses are:
- Family Life, including Sexual Abstinence until Marriage
- At this time, Naperville 203 has not adopted curriculum on Comprehensive Personal Health and Safety and Sexual Health Education, in accordance with the National Sex Education Standards.

- Sex Education
- HIV/AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Diseases
- Life Saving Techniques: CPR, Heimlich Maneuver, Automated External Defibrillator
- Organ Donations and Transplants
- Sex Abuse and Awareness
- Animal Dissection
* In accordance with the state law, these are the only subjects/courses families can choose to opt out of on behalf of their student.
We understand that different families may have concerns or preferences when it comes to their student(s) education. Our teachers and staff are dedicated to providing a supportive and enriching learning environment, and we are always eager to work collaboratively with parents to address any concerns.
If you would like to opt your student(s) out of one of the above courses, please download the Naperville 203 Curriculum Opt-Out Form and return it to your student’s school. This form must be submitted each school year, for each student, if you would like the opt-out to remain in place.
Please Note: Naperville 203 will only accept the school district’s official opt-out form. Other opt-out forms found on the internet will not be accepted. - Family Life, including Sexual Abstinence until Marriage
