Purpose:
The SAT is a measure of the critical thinking skills needed for academic success in college. The SAT assesses analytical and problem-solving skills learned in high school that are needed for college. Each section of the SAT is scored on a scale of 200-800, plus two writing sub-scores for multiple-choice and the essay. The tests include critical reading, math and writing. There are additional SAT Subject Tests (SAT II) that are only required by select schools and most students will not have to take. Registration is required for the SAT; students register at www.collegeboard.org
Who takes the SAT?

Is the SAT test optional or required?
Beginning in Spring 2025, the SAT test is optional for NNHS students; however, college-bound students may need to take it as an admission requirement for some colleges and universities.
