The Career and Technical Education Department
Career and Technical Education coursework and extracurricular activities offer authentic learning experiences for students to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills for college and career success. Over 70 course offerings allow students the opportunity to explore multiple career options and develop professional skills in a particular area of interest.
One CTE credit is required for graduation. Some courses in the Career and Technical Education Department fulfill the Fine Arts requirement or receive Science credit. Several courses provide Dual Credit through the College of DuPage.
Students are encouraged to plan ahead and make purposeful elective choices while considering future college and career goals and interests. Some upper level courses have prerequisites, are scheduled in a block, or are offered only in one semester. Review these details carefully when creating a high school course plan.
Visit www.nnhscte.com to use our interactive CTE Elective Selector tool to find the best fit for you. Many courses have video course descriptions to give you additional details about the course that are not included in the program planning guide.
The CTE Department offers classes in four subgroups:
- Business Technology
- Family and Consumer Science
- Technology & Engineering Education
