Extended School Year (ESY)
-
Extended school year services are special education and related services, which are provided by the School District to an IDEA eligible child with a disability beyond the School District’s regular school year in accordance with the child’s IEP at no cost to the child’s parent and meet the standards of ISBE.
Extended school year services shall be provided to each child whose unique needs require special education and related services in excess of the regular school year. Children in special education who may require extended school year services are those whose IEPs specify an extended school year program and or related services as determined by the child’s IEP team in accordance with the IDEA and ISBE standards and regulations.
