Identification & Placement Process for Students NEW to Naperville CUSD 203

  • Students must be enrolled in Naperville CUSD 203 before the process can begin to determine if academically talented or gifted services is the appropriate placement. Please see Description of Services to learn more about these services.

Once a student is enrolled and begins attending school within the district, parents may request evaluation for academically talented and gifted services at the student’s school. All evaluations will be completed in a timely fashion. Summer testing is available for select students; please see the information below. The criteria used during the identification and placement process can be found on the Identification and Placement page. Please also see the Identification and Placement Flowchart for Students New to the District.

*Please note: If the student is transferring in mid-year, past the end of Trimester 1, a curriculum review is the first step prior to testing. This is requested to ensure students are not missing any more class time than is necessary.  If it is determined that testing is appropriate, the student will go through the testing process at their school.

Once all testing is complete, student scores are placed on the appropriate placement matrix to determine eligibility. As indicated on the flowchart, a new student will be eligible for placement

In addition to the testing, mathematics coursework from the student’s previous school can be reviewed to aid in determining if placement in Honors Math is appropriate. Please contact the Coordinator of Gifted and Talented Services at giftedservices@naperville203.org to share curriculum documentation provided by the student’s previous school.

Summer Testing
