Naperville Central High School Named U.S. Department of Education National Blue Ribbon School

Naperville Community Unit School District 203 is proud to announce that Naperville Central High School has been named a 2024 National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education. This prestigious recognition, awarded to only 356 schools nationwide, honors schools that demonstrate exceptional academic performance or make notable progress in closing achievement gaps among student groups.

Principal Jackie Thornton expressed her pride in the school community, stating, “Naperville Central is a remarkable community of dedicated educators who work tirelessly and genuinely care about the success of their students, both inside and outside the classroom. We are deeply grateful for the strong family and community partnerships that contribute to the achievements of every Redhawk."

The National Blue Ribbon Schools Program acknowledges schools that set high academic standards and foster environments where students can thrive. Superintendent Dan Bridges added, "We are honored to have Naperville Central High School named a Blue Ribbon School. This recognition celebrates the dedication of our educators, families, and communities in creating safe, welcoming schools where students thrive in challenging and engaging environments." This award marks the 12th time a school in District 203 has received this honor since 2002.

National Blue Ribbon Schools are celebrated for their strong leadership, commitment to instructional excellence, and collaborative efforts with families and communities. They embody a shared commitment to ensuring student success through data-driven instruction and effective teaching practices.

Schools can be recognized in one of two categories: Exemplary High Performing Schools, which are among the top performers in their state, and Exemplary Achievement Gap Closing Schools, which make significant progress in narrowing achievement gaps among student subgroups.
