Staff Bios

  • Mike Albiniak began his teaching career at Naperville Central in 2000. Mr. Albiniak earned his B.A. in History with a Secondary Education minor from North Central College and was also awarded an M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction from the same institution. At Central, he has taught US History, Military History, Decades: 50’s, 60’s 70’s, 20th and World History Ancient and 20th Century. Mr. Albiniak currently teaches Chicago History.

    David Ashton earned his History/ Education undergraduate degree from North Central College in 2005.  He began his teaching career at Naperville Central that same year. Thereafter, he earned a master’s degree from Benedictine University in Educational Leadership and second master’s from National Louis University in Curriculum and Instruction. Mr. Ashton previously taught World Cultures, co-taught World Cultures, Fundamentals of US History, US History, 20th Century History, Modern American Social History (MASH), Comparative Religions and AP Micro/Macroeconomics. Mr. Ashton currently teaches Blended Economics and serves as the Social Studies Department Chair.  In addition to his curricular duties, Mr. Ashton coaches Boys’ Cross Country, DECA and Competitive Economics Club. 

    Mike Bochenski earned his degree in American Government and Politics from St. John’s University and went on to earn a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from North Central College. Since 1996, he has taught American Government at all levels including AP, US and 20th Century History, World History, and International Relations. Mr. Bochenski enjoys sponsoring the Veterans club.

    Michael Borge earned his BA in Secondary Education and his M.Ed in instruction leadership from University of Illinois – Chicago and teaches AP Economics and Civics at NCHS since 2022. Mr. Borge enjoys coaching Boys gymnastics and is an advisor to the Competitive Economics Club. Mr. Borge was awarded the Academic All-American Men’s Gymnastics in 2004 and the UIC Male Athlete of the Year in Gymnastics and Diving in 2004.

    Seth Brady earned his B.A. in Philosophy and in Anthropology and an M.S. in Kinesiology: Social Science of Physical Activity. In addition, he holds an M.A. in Social Science from the University of Chicago. A department member since 2004, Mr. Brady teaches Comparative Religions, Humanities Capstone, Peace and Conflict Studies, and World Cultures. Mr. Brady sponsors the Black and Latino Leaders Club, the South Asian Student Association, and the Muslim Student Association.

    Sara Braun earned a B.A. in Sociology, Criminology and Psychology from Valparaiso University and then went on to earn an advanced degree in Secondary Education from National Louis University and an M.A. in Sociology from Arizona State University. Ms. Braun is a graduate of NCHS and completed her student teaching at NCHS. She started her NCHS career in 2018 and teaches World Cultures, U. S. History, and Sociology. Ms. Braun enjoys coaching the Girls Cross Country Team.

    Maria Connell holds an undergraduate degree in Secondary Education and a Certification in Social Studies from Saint Louis University where she was on the Dean’s List. Ms. Connell began her NCHS career in 2021 and teaches Introduction to Psychology and AP Human Geography. She is a co-sponsor of the Psychology Club. Ms. Connell enjoys coaching Girls Softball and Girls Flag Football.

    Samantha Gillespie earned her B.A. in History and Secondary Education from Washington University in St. Louis. She previously taught at Providence Catholic High School in New Lenox. Ms. Gillespie began teaching at Naperville Central in 2017, and has taught World Cultures as well as Ancient & Medieval History. She currently teaches World History, Blended Humanities, and AP European History.  She sponsors the Model UN club.

    Lynne Hanley has B.A. in History and English Literature from Illinois Wesleyan University and an M.A. in Comparative Politics from Loyola University. Ms. Hanley started her teaching career at NCHS in 2005 and teaches World Cultures, U.S. History, Modern American Social History, and AP World History.

    Todd Holmberg earned his History and Education degree from Illinois State University in 1992. Since 1993, he has taught Cultures of the World, Fundamentals of United States History and Cultural Anthropology at NCHS. In 1997, he earned his Master’s Degree in Administration and Leadership from North Central College. Mr. Holmberg has coached Girls Volleyball since 2004.  

    Marissa Juiris completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Missouri-Columbia and her M.Ed at DePaul University. Ms. Juiris previously taught at DePaul College Prep. She teaches World History, Civics, 20th Century History, and American Government. This is her first year teaching at NCHS. Ms. Juiris co-sponsors the Psychology Club.           

    Annika Lee graduated from NCHS, completed her student teaching at NCHS and now teaches US History and World Cultures at NCHS. Ms. Lee earned her undergraduate degree in Integrated Social Studies Education and History from Miami University of Ohio and a graduate degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Aurora University. 2024 is her first year teaching at NCHS. Annika is the co-sponsor of Model UN Club.

    Robert Lugiai earned a Bachelor's of Science in History and Secondary Education degree from Bradley University and then went on to earn a Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Concordia University. Mr. Lugiai is currently working on a second Masters in Educational Administration from Illinois State University. An NCHS alum, he has been teaching since 2015 and is member of the World Cultures and U.S. History teams. Mr. Lugiai’s extracurricular activities include Congressional Debate Assistant Coach and PRISM (Pride, Raising Awareness, Involvement, Support, and Mentoring) Sponsor.

    Donna Mohn earned her Bachelor Degree in History from Point Park College in Pittsburgh, PA in 1992. In 1999, she earned her certification in education. Since 1999, she has taught Cultures of the World, American Government, Fundamentals of American Government, and American Problems and the Law at NCHS. In 2009, she earned her Masters of Education Leadership and Administration from Benedictine University. Since 2010, Ms. Mohn is the Head Advisor Youth and Government. She enjoys coaching Freshman Badminton.

    Randy Smith earned his B.A. in geography and history from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1989 and earned his Ed.M. in Curriculum and Instruction from there in 1991. For 10 years he taught at Providence-St. Mel School in Chicago, serving in a variety of roles (teacher, department chair, high school director, college counselor, and director of summer school). He began teaching at Naperville Central in 2002 and presently teaches A.P. U.S. Government and Politics, and A.P. Human Geography. Mr. Smith serves as the Head Coach of the Congressional Debate Team.

    Steve Stack earned his History/Social Studies and Secondary Education degrees from North Central College in 2010. Since 2013, he has taught World Cultures, Sociology, and United States History at Naperville Central. He received his Master’s Degrees in Curriculum and Instruction (2015) and Educational Technology (2017) from Concordia University Chicago. Since 2020, Mr. Stack has been the Head Boys Track and Field Coach and enjoys coaching Boys Cross Country in the Fall.

    Mike Ulreich earned his undergraduate degree from North Central College in Naperville and his Master’s degree in Teaching American History and Government at Ashland University, Ohio. Mr. Ulreich has taught American Studies, AP U.S. History and World History since 2005. In 2023, Mike was awarded Outstanding Teacher in History by the Daughters of the American Revolution. Mr. Ulreich assumed the Redhawk Head Football coaching job in 2019 after serving many years as defensive coordinator.

    Rochelle Wilder completed her student teaching at NCHS in 2023 and began her teaching career at NCHS in 2024.  Ms. Wilder earned her B.A. in Social Science from Benedictine University. She teaches U.S. History, World History, Sociology, and Civics. Ms. Wilder is the assistant JV Cheerleading coach.

    Michael Wilson received his education and social studies degrees from North Central College in 2006. Since 2007, Mr. Wilson has taught United States History, Cultures of the World, Contemporary Legal Issues, American Government, and Comparative Religions at NCHS. Mr. Wilson has a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction, and his Type 75 certificate in Administration. Mike sponsors the Muslim Student Association and the Black and Latino Student Association and is the Head Boys’ Basketball Coach.

    Matt Zieman earned his B.A. in History from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, graduating Summa Cum Laude. He also holds an M.S.Ed. in Instructional Technology from Northern Illinois University. A Naperville Central alumnus, he returned to teach at NCHS after spending a handful of years in the classroom at Hononegah High School and Washington Jr. High School in Naperville. Mr. Zieman is especially passionate about political science and teaches both AP US Government & Politics and AP Comparative Government & Politics. He has also enjoyed the opportunity to facilitate blended instruction in US History and Psychology. 

    Letitia Zwickert has been a teacher at NCHS since 2008. Mrs. Zwickert teaches International Relations, Minorities in American Society, AP Psychology, Blended Psychology, and World Cultures. She holds a M.Ed. from University of Phoenix, a M.A. in International Relations from Loyola University Chicago, and a B.A. in Political Science from Illinois State University. Mrs. Zwickert sponsors the Neuroscience Club.

    Ms. Zwickert was a Fulbright Specialist in Education from 2017-2022 and was the first K-12 teacher awarded the Fulbright-Schuman Scholar Award in 2016 when she was a Visiting Scholar at Université Libre de Bruxelles, Université de Luxembourg, and Université de Strasbourg.
