ELL Teacher: Ms. Jean AbbottI graduated from Illinois State University in 1994 with an Early Childhood teaching certificate. I taught kindergarten for five years in Schiller Park, Illinois. During that time, I got my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from National – Louis University with an endorsement to teach ESL. In 1999, I came to Naperville Community Unit School District 203. Over the years I have worked at several elementary buildings in the district as a K-5 ELL Teacher. During that time, I got my Elementary teaching certificate. Early Childhood has been my first love and passion so when the building opened in 2010-2011, I jumped at the chance to go to the Ann Reid Early Childhood Center as the ELL (English Language Learner) teacher. I love to travel to other countries and have been to Greece, Italy, Mexico, and London. But since having my two daughters, my husband and I have only traveled to places within the United States like Mount Rushmore and the Grand Canyon. I do not speak another language, but I do like to learn about other cultures and languages. I still keep in touch with a few students and I LOVE to get letters or email from them to hear about how and what they are doing now!
Ms. Megan Hafer
I graduated in 2002 from Northern Illinois University with a degree in Early Childhood Studies. I went on to teach in an early childhood classroom in District 204 for ten years prior to joining Ann Reid in Aug 2012. I completed my graduate degree in Early Childhood Leadership from National Louis University in 2004, and a second graduate degree in Educational Administration from Governor’s State University in August 2011. I love teaching and working with young children! It has been a dream and passion of mine since the time I was a child. I believe in the importance of building a strong foundation and love for learning during the early childhood years. I feel fortunate to have an opportunity to work with so many wonderful children, families and talented educators here at Ann Reid! I grew up primarily in the Schaumburg area but have lived in Naperville for the past 8 years. I love the Naperville area! In my free time I enjoy decorating, watching football, reading, running and spending time outdoors. I also love to spend time with my family as often as possible, especially my five nieces and nephews!Ms. Sara GilbertMy name is Sara Gilbert and I am a speech-language pathologist at Ann Reid. After obtaining my degree, I worked in a private speech and hearing center for two years before joining District 203 in 2003. I am currently pursuing a Certificate of Assistive Technology at the University of Illinois at Chicago. In my free time, I enjoy reading, volunteering in the community, running, and spending time with family and friends. I am proud to be part of the Ann Reid family and love helping children develop their communication skills!
