Are 6th grade students allowed to participate on sports teams?
Posted by:No. At the 6th grade level, the students may not participate on the interscholastic school sports teams. However, they may be a part of a wide variety of Intramurals. Please see the full list of Intramurals offered and their start dates listed in the School Calendar/Handbook and the KJHS website.
Students in 7th and 8th grade can tryout for any of the school teams which include:
- Girls: Cross-country & Volleyball (Fall); Cheerleading & Basketball (Winter); Track (Spring)
- Boys: Cross-Country & Football (Fall); Basketball & Wrestling (Winter); Track (Spring)
- Information about tryouts and schedules are given during morning announcements at the start of the trimester and are also available on the Kennedy web site.

What are intramurals, and should my child join?
Posted by:Intramurals are an "in-house" fun program that includes sports such as, archery, badminton, basketball, volleyball, floor hockey, softball, soccer, BSQ (Bigger/Stronger/Quicker). The P.E. teachers have schedules at the beginning of the year for everyone and this schedule can also be found in the School Calendar/Handbook. Post them on your fridge. They are two to three-week activities that are meant to be fun. They are a great way to meet new friends. They meet before and after school. Getting involved in clubs and activities is a great way to make the adjustment to middle school. Learning to work hard and have fun are two concepts that work wonderfully together. Be advised there is a "one-time" fee that covers the entire year except for golf and bowling which have additional charges. Click here to see the year-long calendar for this year
