Are 6th grade students allowed to participate on sports teams?

No. At the 6th grade level, students may not participate on the interscholastic school sports teams. However, they may be a part of a wide variety of Intramurals. Please see the full list of Intramurals offered and their start dates listed in the School Calendar/Handbook and the KJHS website.

Students in 7th and 8th grade can participate in interscholastic school teams. Some teams are based on tryouts, while others are open to all students who want to participate.

Sports that require tryouts:

  • Girls Volleyball
  • Cheerleading
  • Boys Basketball
  • Girls Basketball

Sports that are open to all 7th & 8th grade students are:

  • Cross-Country
  • Flag Football
  • Wrestling
  • Track
