      Welcome Back!

I recently saw a meme online that said, “Summer should get a speeding ticket.”  While it gave me a quick chuckle, it certainly echoed a truth that I am sure many of you are feeling.  Where did summer go?  While it seems like we just headed out for summer vacation, there is something exciting about the start of a new school year and all that it brings with it!

I am pleased to welcome some new faces to the staff.  A huge Prairie welcome to:

      • Mr. Patrick Donohue -- 4th Grade
      • Mr. Jacob Wantland -- 5th Grade
      • Ms. Hannah Arzadon -- Occupational Therapist
      • Mrs. Lisa Cardenas -- Speech/Language Pathologist
      • Mrs. Melanie Crawford -- Learning Behavior Specialist
      • Ms. Rebecca Heiden – Student Services Coordinator

You will also notice two name changes on our staff.  Congratulations to both Mrs. Boesso (formerly Miss Spayer) and Mrs. Alberts (formerly Ms. White) on their summer weddings.

This year, that staff kicked off the school year with two days of professional development.  While there was a lot of great learning that occurred, we also had a little fun and celebrated the 25th Anniversary of the television show Friends.  I am sure many of you remember watching this show and could sing the theme song, “I’ll Be There For You,” from memory.  You may have noticed the Prairie staff sporting shirts with that phrase on them.  Our staff is committed to being there for each other, for our families, and most importantly, for our students.  All we ask in return is that you be there for your student and for us.  You are our partners in your child’s education and we value your input and support.  Collectively we can ensure your child’s academic and social-emotional growth.

A huge thank you to our Home and School for the improvements to Prairie, including new POD signs, the window clings outside the main entrance as well as the outside entry way logo and canvas mural.  Another shout out to all the volunteers who delivered supply kits to the classroom and those parents that provided the wonderful Welcome Back breakfast for staff.  We appreciate all you do!

The staff and I are looking forward to a wonderful year.  Please do not hesitate to reach out to your child’s teachers, our building specialists, or administration with any questions, comments, or suggestions.
