Future Problem Solvers - Dr. Curless
Future Problem Solvers is a thinking skills competition that provides students an opportunity to solve future problems in a variety of ways.
Last year, KJHS sent 2 teams of students to compete at the regional level. Within their team, students work together to outline solutions to problems that may arise in the future. Students are involved in a thought-provoking six-step problem-solving process that requires them to identify possible challenges, suggest potential solutions, and persuade an audience that their solution is the best. Last year, both teams scored high enough at regionals to be able to compete at the state level and won medals.
This year, KJHS will be expanding competitive opportunities to include not just the 4-person team but also some individual competitions including individual global issues problem solving, scenario writing (short story), scenario performance, and visuals arts.
To learn more about these programs, I will be hosting 3 informational sessions on Wednesday, September 15th:
- 7:15-7:45 am in the LC
- 3:00-3:30 pm in the LC
- 7:00-7:30 pm via zoom
Our meetings will be Thursdays from 3:00-3:45 pm as we get organized. Here are some of the dates:
- 9/23, 9/30
If students are participating in the team competition, there will be more flexibility in when and how the teams meet. For individual competitions, deadlines will vary and those will be communicated to students.
