Dear KJHS Students,
My name is Haihui Niu, and my expertise is teaching students to study for middle school and high school math competitions. Last school year I volunteered to help out with the mathcounts team of our school, and this year I will be KJHS mathcounts team coach, thanks to our principal Patrick Gaskin, Mrs. Lisa Young, and all the parents that have recommended me to the school.
Mathcounts (mathcounts.org) is this nation's most prestigious math competition for middle school students, and I believe by preparing for it, the students who already excel in math class and enjoy solving math problems can have more fun, understand more concepts of math in depth and see more beauty of math. So let's do it!
For this semster, we'll be meeting on these Wednesday mornings between 7:00 am and 7:50 am in LC: 10/25, 11/1, 11/8, 11/15, 12/6, 12/13.
The first ever meeting is open to everyone as long as you think you like math and you don't feel school math is challenging. Also, if you have not learned the basic concepts of algebra (such as solving system of linear equations) and geometry (such as Pythagorean theorem and congruent triangles), this is probably not for you yet.
Once again, the date is 10/25, Wednesday, the time is 7:00 am, and the location is the LC.
Thank you all very much and I’m look forward to seeing you at our first meeting.
Haihui Niu
