District 203 Health Service Philosophy
School Health Services recognize that an individual’s education and growth is related to their physical, mental and emotional well-being.District 203 believes:
- Each individual is valuable and the development of his/her potential is the first responsibility of education.
- The acquisition of skills necessary to maintain a healthy state is a cardinal component of education.
- An effective school health program requires the cooperative involvement of family, school, community agencies, and medical disciplines.
- School Health Services provides a unique contribution to the development of concepts of wellness in students, families, and community.
- A maturing student should be able to face social situations and life problems with increasing judgment as to his/ her role and acceptance of it. Recognition of health issues should be fostered as a civic responsibility.
Communicable DiseasesOn March 5, 2024, the CDC announced that they are streamlining COVID-19 guidance for isolation to be in line with all respiratory viruses, and to make guidance simple, clear and easy to understand.
- If you are sick stay home
- Seek testing and treatment (particularly if at high risk for severe disease)
- Return to normal activities when symptoms have been getting better overall for 24 hours, and if a fever was present, it has been gone for 24 hours without use of a fever-reducing medication.
- Once people resume normal activities, they are encouraged to take precautions for the next 5 days to curb disease spread, such as:
- Taking more steps for cleaner air,
- Enhancing hygiene practices,
- Wearing a well-fitting mask,
- Keeping a distance from others, and/or
- Getting testing to inform your actions to prevent spread to others.
Naperville 203 does not require testing, isolation or masking.
