Pardon Our Dust: Exciting Changes Are Underway!
We are excited to announce an addition to Ranch View Elementary School, which will expand our ability to meet the growing needs of our student population. We value our partnership with the surrounding community and want to share important details about the project, including what you can expect during construction.
Project Overview
Why the Addition?
- Enrollment Growth: Student enrollment has increased by over 16% in recent years (from 505 students in 2018 to 587 students in 2024) and is projected to continue growing.
- Future Needs: Current classrooms and spaces are being used to capacity. This addition ensures we have the facilities needed to support both students and staff.
- No Tax Increase: The $10.4 million project is funded through the district's capital projects fund balance, with no increase to property taxes.
What the Addition Includes:
- Classroom Expansion: Four new regular-sized classrooms to meet projected enrollment needs through the 2029 school year.
- Support Spaces: New spaces for student services, including social work, EL services, and staff collaboration.
- Multipurpose Room: A flexible space for various school activities and events.
- Additional Amenities: Staff and student restrooms to accommodate increased use.
Timeline
- Construction Period: December 2024 – August 2025
- Target Completion: August 2025
Impact on the Community
We are committed to keeping the community informed and minimizing disruptions. Below are the key details about construction logistics:
Construction Traffic and Parking:
- Approximately 50-60 workers will be on-site each day.
- Worker parking will be on surrounding streets during school hours. Community members can expect construction traffic and an increase in parked cars along Auburn Avenue, Iona Avenue, and Citadel Drive between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Playground and Recreation Areas:
- Unavailable Spaces: The small playground and the west field will not be accessible to students or community members during construction.
- Available Spaces: Students and community members will continue to have access to the large playground, with the exception of one play piece. The small blacktop on the north side of the school and the field north of the staff parking lot will also be available for student use.
- Unaffected Areas: The baseball field and tennis courts will remain open and available for use throughout the construction period.
How the Addition Benefits Our Community
This addition will not only enhance the learning environment for students but also alleviate strain on the existing infrastructure, ensuring that all children have access to the resources they need to thrive. With no increase to property taxes, this project represents an investment in the future of our schools and community.
Stay Informed
We will provide regular updates on the construction progress. If you have questions or concerns, please contact Erin Casey, Principal. Once construction is complete, we will host an open house so you can see the beautiful new space!
Thank you for your patience and support as we work to improve our schools for the benefit of all.
