In September 2014, Kennedy SFCP was asked to collaborate with the Kennedy community—students, staff and parents—to create a cultural display in the school front entry vestibule. The display purpose would be to welcome, educate, and celebrate the variety of cultures that comprise the Kennedy community.
At the same time, Kennedy staff members were focusing on culturally responsive practices in the classroom. This prompted SFCP parents to begin discussing the potential of planning a multicultural and/or diversity event. Upon convening for an SFCP brainstorming meeting in October, the committee determined that gathering cultural data specific to Kennedy would be necessary to plan an event. As a result, the survey was created to learn more about our Kennedy community.
