Welcome to Naper Music! All students, grades K-4, receive music. Times vary from 25-30 minutes twice a week, for grades K-4.The music curriculum at Naper incorporates multiple
disciplines of Music Education including that of Orff, Kodaly and Dalcroze. Students have the opportunity to experience music though playing instruments, singing, movement, listening and creating. Students are exposed to a wide variety of literature, from a variety of genres, eras, countries, and cultures. Our district's textbook, Share the Music, serves as a springboard for this musical learning adventure.
Student grades in Music will be based on not only ability and growth/progress, but also on behavior, effort and participation.
Students in grades 1, 2, and 4 present an annual musical program. Students in grade 3 participate in a Fine Arts Night, which allows students and parents to experience both a Music and Art lesson together!
Students in 4th grade are also eligible to join the Naper Chorus which meets during first semester; once a week for an hour after school. Each year, the chorus performs a culminating concert in December.
Field trips, when appropriate, are planned for each grade level in order to expose students to a variety of high-caliber, musical experiences and to greater understand the importance and applicability of music in today's world.
