Learning Commons Overview
-
Lincoln’s Learning Commons is the center of our school’s learning. All are welcome to browse, read, research, build, create and learn. Lincoln’s Learning Commons supports the school curriculum as well as provides multiple learning activities based on student and teacher interests. Students use the Learning Commons in both a flexible and fixed schedule. ELA teachers bring their classes down on a regular basis to hear book talks and checkout books for both leisure reading as well as class texts.
The Learning Commons at Lincoln also features a Maker Lab for students to experiment, build, design, and create with a variety of materials. Students can engage in a variety of coding activities with our Sphero Robots or Parrot Drones. In addition, they can design and play their own video games with our Bloxels. Or they can go old school and build on the Lego wall or with our Keva Planks. The Make Lab is open on a flexible schedule through lunch periods and supervised study.
In the recently renovated Learning Commons space, students have access to a variety of learning environments. From multiple seating options and glass collaboration rooms to digital displays and a 3D printer, the Learning Commons at Lincoln is set up to maximize student learning in the present and into the future.
