Thursday, January 17th

Please Complete the Illinois 5 Essentials Survey

As a parent or guardian of one or more students attending Naperville Community Unit School District 203 schools, your feedback is requested via participation in the annual statewide Illinois 5 Essentials Survey.  The purpose of this online survey is to understand parent/guardian perceptions in the areas of connectedness, satisfaction, interaction, involvement, and quality.  Your participation and ratings are confidential.  The results of this survey will be used to understand areas of strength and challenge at the district and school level based on your input and feedback.

Families with students attending more than one school are asked to complete the survey for each school individually.  To access the survey, please click https://survey.5-essentials.org/illinois/ and select “DuPage” as the County.  Please complete the survey by this Friday, January 18, 2019.

Hoops for Hope

Warhawks, during your lunch periods, you can sign up for the Hoops for Hope basketball tournament. Each team of 5 needs a total of $25, a clever team name, and a team captain. All members of the team must be present to sign up. The winners of the tournament will battle in a basketball game against the teachers!

Also, in order to support our student’s efforts, Student Council is seeking donations of snack items for the concession stand. The items we need are:

  •         Cases of water/Gatorade (this was a popular item for our players last year!)

  •         Snack pack sizes of chips/pretzels/crackers/popcorn

  •         Candy (individually packaged items)

There will be a donation box labeled Hoops for Hope near the main office where students and parents can drop off any food donations for the concession stand. We will accept donations until January 31st.  Thank you in advance for supporting Hoops for Hope!

Girls Basketball Team Tryouts - Update

Girls basketball tryouts begin today!  8th Grade tryouts are from 3-4:30pm, followed by 7th Grade tryouts from 4:30-6pm.  Tryouts will continue on Friday with 8th Grade at 6:30am (enter through gym door #28) and 7th Grade after school from 3-4:15pm. Even if you didn't sign up with Coach V or Coach Konrad, you are welcome to show up for tryouts!  Just make sure you have a physical on file.  The only way you're sure not to make the team is if you don't try out!

Asthma Lunch & Learn

Madison Junior High School will be presenting Asthma Lunch & Learn for one day only on Wednesday, January 30th during lunch periods.  The program will feature presentations from Benedictine University graduate nurse Katherine Hanks, a respiratory therapist from Edward Hospital, and our school nurse, Marjorie Haseley.  This program is for any student interested in learning about asthma and how to control it. Participants can bring their lunch, learn, and have fun! Whether you have asthma, know someone who has asthma, or just want to play games and win small prizes during lunch, this program is for you!  Attached is the flyer and permission slip. Every student must have their parents/guardians fill out a permission slip and turn it into the Madison Health Office, located next to the Main Office. Extra flyers and permission slips will be in the Health Office.

Hoops for Hope

The season is upon us...competition season, that is!  We are gearing up for our 4th AnnualHoops for Hope Basketball Tournament!  Our basketball tournament focuses on supporting Ronald McDonald House Charities.  Our goal is to raise $2,000 through this tournament.  This phenomenal donation from Madison would provide more than the cost of 24 family nights at the Ronald McDonald House.  The Ronald McDonald House offers meaningful relief from the daily challenges that families of the most medically fragile children experience.  It serves as a place for families to eat, sleep, and gather when they have an ill child in a hospital nearby.  As kids know, having your family nearby when you don't feel well is incredibly important.  Help keep families together by participating in this basketball tournament!  Here's what you need to do:

1.  Get a team of 5 together and come up with a team name.

2.  Sign up with your team at the sign-up table during lunch periods until January 23rd.

3.  It costs $25 per team to participate in the tournament.  All of your money goes to this charity!

4.  Money is due at the time of your sign-up.

5.  See Mrs. Cravatta or Ms. Charvat with questions!

Men's and Women's Chorales

We are still rehearsing! Please join us on Tuesdays or Wednesdays.
