  • Thanks and Gratitude for Our Veterans

Posted by Karen Buell on 11/10/2017 4:00:00 PM

    Maplebrook Families,

We held our annual Veterans Day program this morning and were honored to welcome current and former service personnel as our guests for the ceremony.  Our focus of the program was to extend our thanks and gratitude for their service and appreciation.  Each guest had an opportunity to speak with our students.  For our families and students, on behalf of Student Council, thank you for your support during the “Operation Support Our Troops” collection and poppy sales.  Most of items for the the troops were collected as part of last Saturday’s Maplebrook Milers’ Turkey Trot.  Thank you to all that ran and supported our collection efforts!

    Have a nice weekend,

  • Fire Safety

Posted by Karen Buell on 10/13/2017 4:00:00 PM

    Maplebrook Families,

Today, our students and staff participated in a Fire Drill.  For this one, the Naperville Fire Department was onsite to monitor and offer feedback on our current practice.  Our Wildcats performed very well during the drill.  The message we continuously share with our students is that they are always safe at school, and we encourage you to echo that message should you have any follow-up conversations at home.

    Have a nice weekend,

Posted by Karen Buell on 8/18/2017 4:00:00 PM

    Maplebrook Families –

We had a great first two days of school!  We welcome our incoming kindergartners, our new families, and our returning Maplebrook Community.  For the last two days, I’ve enjoyed walking the halls seeing many smiling faces and engaging learning activities.  Our staff focused on making students feel safe, welcome, and supported.  Thank you to our Home & School Board and the H&S/SFCP volunteers that helped with school supplies, a welcome back breakfast for teachers, and the Teddy Bear Picnic.  We truly appreciate our volunteers.  Thank you so much for the hours of service that you give to Maplebrook as volunteers.  Looking to lend a hand and support Maplebrook?  Click here for the Signup Genius to volunteer for events throughout the year.

  • Back to School for 2017-18

Posted by Karen Buell on 8/8/2017

    Maplebrook Families:

The first day of school is rapidly approaching!  Please read through this message in its entirety as it contains important information and hopefully addresses questions you may have.

    Classroom Assignments

Classroom and teacher assignments for Kindergarten through 5th grade will be posted on the Campus Portal on Thursday, August 10th at 3:00 PM.  While there are many links on the login page to assist you, please recall that you also received Campus Portal instructions within the summer mailing.

    Bus Information

The Transportation Department will not be mailing busing information this year.  Individual student transportation information was posted on Campus Portal yesterday.  Please click here for a helpful document on how to access.  If you need any assistance or have additional questions about your student’s transportation information please call the Transportation Department at (630) 420-6464.

    Attention New Families!

We invite all new families, and those that did not attend Kindergarten Preview in March, to join us tomorrow night, August 9, at 6:00 p.m. in the gym for New Family Orientation.  This will be an information session about some of the basic procedures at Maplebrook.  We will also provide time to answer any questions you may have and offer a tour of the school.

    School Supplies/Maplebrook Mall

If you ordered school supplies through Home & School, they will be delivered to classrooms for the first day of school.  If you chose to purchase school supplies on your own, you can find the list here.  Exclusive Maplebrook items that are included in the kit will be available for purchase at the Maplebrook Mall, which will be held tomorrow night (8/9) from 4:30-7:00 PM in our old lobby area, outside of the gym.  Please contact H&S volunteer, Jen Springer jenspringer28@gmail.com or Jena McKinnon jenamckinnon@gmail.com with any School Supply/Maplebrook Mall questions.

    Attention Kindergarten Families!

We invite all of our incoming kindergarten students to join us for our annual Teddy Bear Picnic on Friday, August 11, at 11:30 a.m.  In the event of rain or extreme heat, the event will take place in our gym.  Our kindergarten teachers will not be in attendance. Your kindergartner is welcome to bring their favorite teddy bear, or stuffed companion, to meet their new classmates. This event, led by our School Family Community Partnership, is a social time for parents to get to know each other and for our new Wildcats to interact with one another.

First Day of School / First Day of Kindergarten

Our first day of school for grades 1-5 is Thursday, August 17.  Kindergarten Sneak Peek appointments will occur throughout the day.  The first full day of school for Kindergarten is Friday, August 18.

    New Certified Staff Members

We want to welcome some new certified staff members to Maplebrook.  Each look forward to meeting all of our students and families and are excited to become part of the Maplebrook Community.  Mrs. Jennifer Schemidt, Assistant Principal; Ms. Ashley Hammerstrom, 3rd Grade; Mr. Eric Nelson, Physical Education; Ms. Lauren Tokar, Art; and Ms. Hannah Wood, Speech-Language Pathologist.

    Security Enhancements

You or your student may notice the installation of some new security equipment at the beginning of this school year. As part of the District’s ongoing initiative to provide a secure learning environment for our students, Maplebrook received a new camera security system that will scan interior and exterior locations around the school. This system has already been implemented in several District schools. By being able to observe areas of the building where staff may not be immediately present, we will be in a better position to assess and respond to reports that may be of concern. Cameras will not be mounted in any area that would compromise individual privacy, such as a bathroom. The decision to place this system at Maplebrook is just one of many initiatives being taken by the District. However, it is not prudent to discuss each safety measure the District has or will take without compromising the integrity of the system.  School safety is paramount to District 203, and improvements are always being reviewed and revised based on input from safety officials, staff, and parents.  If you have any questions about this security upgrade, please feel free to contact me.

    Other Questions?

Expect a couple more Talk203 messages with important information prior to the first day of school.  Remember to check the Maplebrook website for the answers to any other questions you may have.  You may also contact our main office at 630-420-6381 between the hours of 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. until school resumes.

Nine days!  We’re excited and ready for our Wildcats to come back to school!

Strategic Blueprint

  • District 203’s FOCUS 2020 Strategic Blueprint

Posted by Superintendent Dan Bridges on 6/27/2014
FOCUS 2020 is the strategic plan for comprehensive improvement between 2014 and 2020, designed in response to community feedback, best practice, and a vision for the future. Ultimately, this blueprint will advance the fulfillment of the district’s mission.

FOCUS 2020’s foundation is the Future Focus Community Engagement process that occurred over the course of a year where hundreds of members from across the community provided feedback to the district leadership regarding areas such as facilities, finances, measuring student success, and programs of study. Learn more about Future Focus by clicking on the specific “Quick Link” to the left of this text.

The Blueprint includes four “Strategic Focus” areas, namely to:
    1. Design and implement effective practices that promote learning experiences for all.
    2. Foster a high-performance culture focused on student learning.
    3. Steward resources effectively to promote student learning.
    4. Effective communication and community relations.
Each Strategic Focus then establishes “Commitments.” These commitments are what the district leadership pledges to accomplish within a distinct timeframe. Each commitment then includes a detailed “Action Plan” which will be accessible by the public upon final draft.

District administrators provided an update on Blueprint Commitments to the Board of Education at the July 27, 2015 meeting.  To watch that presentation, please click here
