  • Cold Weather Notes

Winter weather is officially here. As a reminder, students will go outdoors for recess unless the temperature is below zero degrees including the wind chill factor. Be sure to send your student to school equipped with their cold weather gear (preferably labeled with their name). Students must wear snow pants and boots in order to play in the snow. We need to ensure students are warm and dry when they head back indoors. Insulated blue jeans/sweat pants are not a substitute for snow pants.

  • Morning Drop Off Reminders

Decreasing temperatures bring increasing traffic in the morning. Please know that we will be using our second drop-off zone (along Warbler Drive) more regularly. Be sure to pull all the way forward if you are directed to that zone. The handbook and the back of your name placard offer details regarding our drop-off and pick-up procedures. If you require a new placard to use for afternoon pick-up, please contact the main office.

The current forecast is mid-50s and cloudy skies for next Wednesday - fingers crossed it doesn’t change for the worse!  For your reference once again, please see this handout with information for our Fall Parade and Parties.  Recognizing we will be parading outdoors and many pictures will likely be taken, please be mindful of distributing or sharing pictures of other children via social media.

    Maplebrook Families,

Fall is definitely upon us!  With these fluctuating temperatures, please be sure your Wildcats are dressed appropriately for outdoor play.  Our entire building has been doing a great job demonstrating P.R.O.W.L. characteristics this year. Having reached our first goal of PROWL prints, we will celebrate “Sports Day” on Monday, October 22nd.  Wear your favorite sports team or sports wear to show PROWL pride!

  • We Are Maplebrook!

Posted by Karen Buell on 8/24/2018 4:00:00 PM

    Maplebrook Families:

We had a great first full week of school!. Our Wildcats deserve so much of the credit for working hard this week and for demonstrating PROWL (Persistence, Respect, Ownership, Welcoming, Leadership) traits at Maplebrook.  Our week was capped off by an all school assembly where we were able to gather together and celebrate for the first time this year.  We wanted to be sure that all of our new Wildcats feel welcome and part of the Maplebrook community.  We wanted each student to recognize that together WE make Maplebrook a special place, that WE all have the responsibility to show PROWL, and that collectively WE ARE MAPLEBROOK!  We took an all school photo (thanks Greg Mulvey!) with every student wearing their new “We Are Maplebrook” t-shirt.  We’re hoping to celebrate our pride in Maplebrook this year by showing our school spirit every Friday.  Now, every student has at least one item they can choose to wear on Fridays, but please look to expand your Maplebrook Spirit Wear collection, thanks to the great options that Home & School is offering.

  • New Beginnings

Posted by Karen Buell on 8/17/2018 4:00:00 PM

    Maplebrook Families:

What a great first two days of school we’ve had!  Our new Wildcats have transitioned very well into their classrooms.  It was wonderful to see all of the smiling faces and to watch them engage in meaningful learning activities, while fostering new friendships and developing strong relationships with their teachers and other staff.

Now that the year is up and running, I want thank our Home & School Board and the H&S/SFCP volunteers that helped with school supplies, a welcome back breakfast for staff, the Teddy Bear Picnic, and those that served as greeters this first week.  Thank you so much for the hours of service that you give to Maplebrook as volunteers. Looking for opportunities on how to get involved this year? Click here for the H&S SignUpGenius to see what’s available.

Strategic Blueprint

  • District 203’s FOCUS 2020 Strategic Blueprint

Posted by Superintendent Dan Bridges on 6/27/2014
FOCUS 2020 is the strategic plan for comprehensive improvement between 2014 and 2020, designed in response to community feedback, best practice, and a vision for the future. Ultimately, this blueprint will advance the fulfillment of the district’s mission.

FOCUS 2020’s foundation is the Future Focus Community Engagement process that occurred over the course of a year where hundreds of members from across the community provided feedback to the district leadership regarding areas such as facilities, finances, measuring student success, and programs of study. Learn more about Future Focus by clicking on the specific “Quick Link” to the left of this text.

The Blueprint includes four “Strategic Focus” areas, namely to:
    1. Design and implement effective practices that promote learning experiences for all.
    2. Foster a high-performance culture focused on student learning.
    3. Steward resources effectively to promote student learning.
    4. Effective communication and community relations.
Each Strategic Focus then establishes “Commitments.” These commitments are what the district leadership pledges to accomplish within a distinct timeframe. Each commitment then includes a detailed “Action Plan” which will be accessible by the public upon final draft.

District administrators provided an update on Blueprint Commitments to the Board of Education at the July 27, 2015 meeting.  To watch that presentation, please click here
