  • What a Busy Week!

Posted by Karen Buell on 3/8/2019 4:00:00 PM

    Maplebrook Families,

We’ve had a great week at Maplebrook!  On Tuesday, our band and orchestra students sounded fantastic at their concert.  Many thanks to Dr. Carroll and Ms. Reynolds for their continued work in helping our Wildcat musicians.  We held an amazing STEM Fair last night! All of our participants demonstrated outstanding scientific inquiry and communication skills.  Thanks to all that volunteered and helped make it a great event including Mrs. Bass and our Home & School Chairs, Erin Brignac, Rachna Prasad, and Leah McGrath.  Finally, we wrapped up the week by welcoming our future Wildcats and their families at Kindergarten Preview today. We look forward to seeing them again in the fall!

  • Making Plans for Next School Year

Posted by Karen Buell on 3/1/2019 4:00:00 PM

    Maplebrook Families,

The third trimester has begun and while we stay focused on the current school year, we must also begin making plans for next school year. This includes ordering materials, prioritizing summer improvements to our facility, hiring staff as needed and much, much more.  Believe it or not, our teachers will soon begin the process of class groupings for the 2019-2020 school year. Yesterday, your student came home with this letter which briefly discusses our process.  As mentioned in the letter, I ask that you trust our staff in the creation of balanced classes; however we do want to provide you with an opportunity to provide any information that you feel is pertinent to our process.  One of the most joyous parts of next year’s planning is the welcoming of our incoming kindergartners at our annual Kindergarten Preview which will occur next Friday. We look forward to meeting the Maplebrook Class of 2025!

  • Strange Weather Week

Posted by Karen Buell on 2/1/2019 4:00:00 PM

    Maplebrook Families,

It was great to welcome all of our Wildcats back to school today.  What a strange week of weather it has been. Hopefully you and your student(s) enjoyed some quality time safely inside this week.  While it was too cold to safely play outdoors, I’m sure they were able to engage in creative play inside and/or curl up to a good book.  It was disappointing that we had to cancel our Open House, but please fortunately we have rescheduled the event for February 21.

Last night we welcomed several community members and organizations to Maplebrook for our STEM Fair Kick Off event.  It was wonderful to see so many of our Wildcats exploring in engaging activities and experiencing science, technology, engineering and mathematics.  Remember, even you your student did not attend last night, he/she can still participate in the STEM Fair and/or STEM activities. Look in the H&S section below for more information.

  • ALICE

Posted by Karen Buell on 1/18/2019 4:00:00 PM

    Maplebrook Families,

As you may be aware, this school year Naperville 203 transitioned to a new safety response plan known as ALICE (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate).  The ALICE approach is an alternative to the more passive lockdown method by empowering individuals to make critical decisions during a crisis situation. All District 203 school-level staff have completed scenario-based training to compliment mandatory online training that took place this fall.

At this time, secondary students in grades 6-12 will begin the age-appropriate ALICE training.  It is our goal to begin the ALICE training with the older students prior to implementing any discussion at the younger ages.  However, as stated above, staff at all grade levels have been ALICE trained and our youngest students will follow the lead of trained staff in any emergency situation.

We will continue to update our community during this process.  If you need additional information, please visit the District’s safety section on the website.  As always, feel free to contact me or our Assistant Principal, Jennifer Schemidit, to discuss this further.

  • Winter Break Wrap-Up!

Posted by Karen Buell on 12/21/2018 4:00:00 PM

    Maplebrook Families,

We had a great week to wrap up the 2018 portion of our school year.  Many thanks to our Home & School Hospitality Committee Chairs, Megan Anderson and Anne Squire, for coordinating such a lovely Staff Holiday Luncheon on Monday.  We also want to extend our gratitude to Stacey Lamesch for all of her work with the gift card program. Our community is very generous and we, as a staff, very much appreciate your support!

Today, our students celebrated together during our annual student sing-a-long event. After the festivities in the gym, our students travelled back to their classrooms for their winter parties.  Thank you to all of our volunteers that helped with the crafts and activities, and thank you to our Committee Chairs, Emily Anders and Kathy Raymundo, for coordinating these parties! Enjoy Winter Break with family and friends.  We look forward to welcoming back our Wildcats in January 2019! Please know that we will not be sending out the Wiley WAG over Winter Break.

Strategic Blueprint

  • District 203’s FOCUS 2020 Strategic Blueprint

Posted by Superintendent Dan Bridges on 6/27/2014
FOCUS 2020 is the strategic plan for comprehensive improvement between 2014 and 2020, designed in response to community feedback, best practice, and a vision for the future. Ultimately, this blueprint will advance the fulfillment of the district’s mission.

FOCUS 2020’s foundation is the Future Focus Community Engagement process that occurred over the course of a year where hundreds of members from across the community provided feedback to the district leadership regarding areas such as facilities, finances, measuring student success, and programs of study. Learn more about Future Focus by clicking on the specific “Quick Link” to the left of this text.

The Blueprint includes four “Strategic Focus” areas, namely to:
    1. Design and implement effective practices that promote learning experiences for all.
    2. Foster a high-performance culture focused on student learning.
    3. Steward resources effectively to promote student learning.
    4. Effective communication and community relations.
Each Strategic Focus then establishes “Commitments.” These commitments are what the district leadership pledges to accomplish within a distinct timeframe. Each commitment then includes a detailed “Action Plan” which will be accessible by the public upon final draft.

District administrators provided an update on Blueprint Commitments to the Board of Education at the July 27, 2015 meeting.  To watch that presentation, please click here
