  • Final Week of 2018-2019

Posted by Karen Buell on 5/31/2019

    Maplebrook Families,

We had a great last week at Maplebrook!  Thanks to all that volunteered at Field Day on Wednesday.  Our students had so much fun!  Allow us to send a special shout out to Diedra Hogan and Rachel Strang for our EC-4 Field Day, and Michelle Bain, Sheryl Henson and Julie Jur for the 5th Grade Field Day at Winding Creek Park.  Throughout the week, our students remained engaged in quality learning activities and time together.  Today, students and staff gathered one last time to recognize some, and celebrate all, students for our accomplishments, participation in activities, and PROWL this year.  It was a wonderful event with plenty of smiles, but as it came to a close, it was emotional, as I received cards from my students and I said goodbye to all of my Wildcats.  It was equally emotional at the end of the day for our 5th graders and many of our preschoolers that were also saying goodbye to Maplebrook.

As a reminder, I’ll continue to be at Maplebrook until June 30, serving as principal and supporting the transition of your new building leader.  Since I announced in April that I would be leaving, I have appreciated the kind words of support for my future endeavors and have been humbled by the compliments I’ve received about my leadership of this outstanding school.  Maplebrook is a wonderful place due to the collective efforts of great students, a dedicated staff, and supportive families.  I’m proud of what we accomplished together during my time as principal.  I will always be thankful for your support, will cherish our memories, and will forever be a Wildcat.  #wearemaplebrook

    Have a wonderful summer!

  • End of Year Celebrations

Posted by Karen Buell on 5/24/2019 4:00:00 PM

    Maplebrook Families,

The end of the year continues to be busy.  As shared last week, we hosted Mario the Maker Magician for two amazing assemblies on Tuesday.  On Wednesday, we hosted our early childhood families for our inaugural preschool moving on celebration.  It was a wonderful gathering of families to engage in play, watch performances, and individually recognize each preschooler.  While some will return to Maplebrook in the fall, we will sadly say goodbye to most, as they will be enrolled into their K-5 homeschool in the fall.   Also on Wednesday, our H&S held a lovely reception for our three retirees (Mrs. Kaduk, Ms. Reynolds, and Mrs. Trevizo). We wish them well in their future endeavors.  Lastly, yesterday, we celebrated our fifth graders during our traditional 5th Grade Program. We held an all school assembly in the morning and hosted our families for the program last night.  They performed and sounded amazing. These past six years, they have made tremendous growth. We are proud of them and wish them all the best in junior high school.

  • Mario the Maker Magician Assemblies

Posted by Karen Buell on 5/17/2019 4:00:00 PM

    Maplebrook Families,

Next Tuesday, we will be welcoming Mario the Maker Magician, for two assemblies.  A brief description from his website: As seen on Sesame Street and Sprout, Mario "the Maker Magician" Marchese is a New York based, touring children's performer known for his DIY robotic creations, handmade props, and signature slapstick character. He has been touted “the best kids magician in the world!!” by David Blaine and was the opening act for the most recent 2018 David Blaine live tour.  Mario’s show is an upbeat, hilarious, and very interactive experience that leaves children and families inspired to nurture their own creative paths.  We feel very fortunate to welcome this renowned performer to Maplebrook.  Many thanks to Home & School for sponsoring this performance!

  • Thank You!

Posted by Karen Buell on 5/10/2019 4:00:00 PM

    Maplebrook Families,

Wow!  We certainly feel appreciated!  On behalf of the Maplebrook staff, thank you so much for your kind words, gifts, food, treats, and support during Teacher Appreciation Week.  Our community is incredibly thoughtful and caring! Thank you! Also, thanks to all that attended FunFest last Friday. While it was a little cool and there was a little drizzle, overall it was a lovely evening.  Your financial support is very much appreciated - it goes towards field trips, assemblies, activities (such as roller skating), gifts (such as Birthday Books for students) and more! To those of you that volunteered, we can’t thank you enough for creating such a memorable event for our students.

Posted by Karen Buell on 5/3/2019 4:00:00 PM

    Maplebrook Families,

After a week of rain, it was great to see a little sunshine today.  This change in weather happened just in time for FunFest! Hopefully you will be able to join us sometime in the 4:30-7:00 p.m. window.  In advance, thank you to everyone that helped coordinate the event, and thank you to all that are volunteering your time tonight. Without your help, we wouldn’t be able to create such a fantastic experience for our Wildcats.

  • Celebrating our Maplebrook Community

Posted by Karen Buell on 4/19/2019 4:00:00 PM

    Maplebrook Families,

One of the best parts of Maplebrook is when our community comes together.  Yesterday, we brought all of our students together for a quick assembly where we celebrated that “We Are Maplebrook!” while also talking to our students about the GLOW Run.  Certainly it’s not required for you, or your student(s) to participate, but it is for a good cause, and on May 18th, it will be fun to see many members of our community gather and participate in the race.  See the entry below for more details.

  • What a Busy Week!

Posted by Karen Buell on 3/8/2019 4:00:00 PM

    Maplebrook Families,

We’ve had a great week at Maplebrook!  On Tuesday, our band and orchestra students sounded fantastic at their concert.  Many thanks to Dr. Carroll and Ms. Reynolds for their continued work in helping our Wildcat musicians.  We held an amazing STEM Fair last night! All of our participants demonstrated outstanding scientific inquiry and communication skills.  Thanks to all that volunteered and helped make it a great event including Mrs. Bass and our Home & School Chairs, Erin Brignac, Rachna Prasad, and Leah McGrath.  Finally, we wrapped up the week by welcoming our future Wildcats and their families at Kindergarten Preview today. We look forward to seeing them again in the fall!

Strategic Blueprint

  • District 203’s FOCUS 2020 Strategic Blueprint

Posted by Superintendent Dan Bridges on 6/27/2014
FOCUS 2020 is the strategic plan for comprehensive improvement between 2014 and 2020, designed in response to community feedback, best practice, and a vision for the future. Ultimately, this blueprint will advance the fulfillment of the district’s mission.

FOCUS 2020’s foundation is the Future Focus Community Engagement process that occurred over the course of a year where hundreds of members from across the community provided feedback to the district leadership regarding areas such as facilities, finances, measuring student success, and programs of study. Learn more about Future Focus by clicking on the specific “Quick Link” to the left of this text.

The Blueprint includes four “Strategic Focus” areas, namely to:
    1. Design and implement effective practices that promote learning experiences for all.
    2. Foster a high-performance culture focused on student learning.
    3. Steward resources effectively to promote student learning.
    4. Effective communication and community relations.
Each Strategic Focus then establishes “Commitments.” These commitments are what the district leadership pledges to accomplish within a distinct timeframe. Each commitment then includes a detailed “Action Plan” which will be accessible by the public upon final draft.

District administrators provided an update on Blueprint Commitments to the Board of Education at the July 27, 2015 meeting.  To watch that presentation, please click here
