    Dear Families,

Welcome to the 2014-2015 school year at the Ann Reid Early Childhood Center!

I am extremely proud and feel very privileged to be part of a wonderful preschool program in such a building. There are a number of unique construction and new features in our building as it was designed just for early learners. This past spring and summer we added a custom garden mural inside and a student vegetable, herb and sensory garden outside between the two playgrounds. Our theme this year will be “Bloom Wherever You are Planted” which was a favorite quote of the late Ann Reid. We look forward to a school year where our students “bloom” not only in their academic learning, but in their friendships, play and social-emotional development. Our team of educators promise to provide the highest quality early childhood education to all students in our diverse community. This diversity in our students and families is one of Ann Reid’s greatest strengths.

We are very grateful for the support we have received from the Community of Naperville District 203 and our families as this support is so important to a positive atmosphere for our students. Our high quality teachers, support staff, and assistants working in partnership with you, the parents, will provide your child a high quality preschool experience. The Home and School along with the School Family Community Partnership (SFCP) are working to help you join in as partners in your child’s educational program. Research shows that this connection between home and school further enhances the ability of each child to reach his/her potential.

The information outlined in this handbook includes District 203 information along with specific pages that are devoted to the Early Childhood Program at Ann Reid. It is designed to serve as a quick reference guide to answer your questions. We hope to have similar information on our school website as this school year progresses. If you need additional information, please feel free to call the main office 420-6899 or send an email.

Welcome to the new school year. We all look forward to working with you and your child.

    Tarah Allen
Principal of Ann Reid Early Childhood Center

Strategic Blueprint

  • District 203’s FOCUS 2020 Strategic Blueprint

Posted by Superintendent Dan Bridges at 6/27/2014
FOCUS 2020 is the strategic plan for comprehensive improvement between 2014 and 2020, designed in response to community feedback, best practice, and a vision for the future. Ultimately, this blueprint will advance the fulfillment of the district’s mission.
FOCUS 2020’s foundation is the Future Focus Community Engagement process that occurred over the course of a year where hundreds of members from across the community provided feedback to the district leadership regarding areas such as facilities, finances, measuring student success, and programs of study. Learn more about Future Focus by clicking on the specific “Quick Link” to the left of this text.
The Blueprint includes four “Strategic Focus” areas, namely to:
    1. Design and implement effective practices that promote learning experiences for all.
    2. Foster a high-performance culture focused on student learning.
    3. Steward resources effectively to promote student learning.
    4. Effective communication and community relations.
Each Strategic Focus then establishes “Commitments.” These commitments are what the district leadership pledges to accomplish within a distinct timeframe. Each commitment then includes a detailed “Action Plan” which will be accessible by the public upon final draft.
FOCUS 2020 was first presented to the Board of Education at its May 5th, 2014 meeting. To watch that presentation, please click on this link and find the May 5, 2014 meeting.
The final draft of the Blueprint and Action Plans will be unveiled at the Fall FOCUS 203 Community Forum, which will be held on September 17 in the evening at Naperville Central High School and September 18 in the morning at Grace Methodist Church.
