As Our Year Concludes...

May 2019

It’s seems like just yesterday I was sitting in my office preparing for the start of the 2018-19 school year and here I now sit writing my end of the year submission for our final Prairie Dog News.  I am not sure where this year has gone but I have enjoyed every minute of it.

The staff and I are so proud of our students and the growth they have shown this year.  Not only are they are little taller, but they are a whole lot smarter too J.  We have seen our students’ skills in math, literacy, science and social science soar.  Students rose to the challenges put before them and took their learning to new heights.  In the area of social emotional learning, our students exemplified what it means to be a Prairie Dog and they let their Prairie PRIDE show.   Students were true community contributors, giving back in numerous ways to support the greater community.

To our 5th graders, the staff and I wish you the best of luck as you transition to the next phase of your schooling.  Middle school is an exciting time full of new adventures and experiences.  The staff and I know you will take what you have learned during your time at Prairie and excel in your new environment.  However, remember that, despite your school’s new mascot, you are always a Prairie Dog!

To our retirees – Mrs. Brotherly-Lamb, Mrs. Sprague, Mrs. Steffeter, and Mrs. Wambold, thank you for your dedication and commitment to the students of Prairie.  You are each remarkable and will be missed!

On a personal note, thank you for making my first year as Prairie’s principal a wonderful experience.  I have appreciated your continued partnership and support.  Prairie is an outstanding learning community and I am so thankful for the opportunity to work in a place that is consistently focused on doing what is best for students.  I wish each of you a wonderful and relaxing summer break and look forward to seeing you in August.  Remember, Never Stop Learning!
