We are working hard to dismiss students in a timely manner, while following all safety protocol; maintaining 6 feet distance, using multiple exit points so students can be spaced out in hallways, and reinforcing hand sanitizing as students exit the building.
CAR RIDERS- How does dismissal work?
When students exit the building to wait for their car, they are being directed to a holding area on our playground blacktop. As your car pulls in to the line, a staff member will approach your vehicle to read the sign in your window with who you are picking up and their grade. This information is being recorded on a spreadsheet that is being received by staff monitoring the blacktop. As students hear their name called, they make their way down to the holding area close to the parking lot. When your car is along the main stretch, students can enter your vehicle. Every day, this process has gotten a bit smoother, and we thank you for your patience as students and staff are learning new procedures. Our goal is to dismiss students to cars as quickly as possible, while making sure we are following all safety measures.
Here is how you can help us make car rider pick up go smoothly:
Please have a sign with your child's FIRST and LAST name, and grade level, written clearly and big enough to see from the sidewalk.
Children should enter your car on the passenger side only. Parents, should remain in their vehicle at all times. If your child needs help getting in, our staff will assist you.
Students should buckle themselves in to their seat. If your child cannot buckle themselves, please work on this skill with them. If a parent has to reach back and help buckle, please move down to the end of the line before doing so.
Students should be able to open the car door. Staff is available to help as needed, but we encourage you to work on this skill as well.
If someone else is coming to pick your child up child that day (babysitter, grandparent), please make sure your child is aware and knows what car will be coming.
