Ten Naperville 203 Seniors Named U.S. Presidential Scholar Candidates

The U.S. Department of Education announced ten Naperville 203 students are in the running to be named U.S. Presidential Scholars. The national program recognizes the country’s most outstanding high school seniors.

The following students have been named:

  • Tyler Ditmars, Lisle, Naperville North High School;
  • Braden Hajer, Naperville, Naperville Central High School;
  • Simeon Lee, Naperville, Naperville Central High School;
  • Andrew Li, Naperville, Naperville North High School;
  • Elizabeth Liu, Naperville, Naperville Central High School;
  • Rachel Shi, Naperville, Naperville North High School;
  • Katherine Watson, Naperville, Naperville North High School;
  • Geoffrey Wu, Naperville, Naperville North High School;
  • Colin Yao, Naperville, Naperville Central High School;
  • Christopher Zhou, Naperville, Naperville North High School.

More than 4,500 high school seniors were listed as presidential scholar candidates in the 2021 U.S. Presidential Scholars Program, according to the announcement. Scholars are selected based on academic and artistic achievements, leadership qualities, character, and involvement in community and school activities.  The list will be narrowed to 600 semifinalists in early April. The U.S. Department of Education will announce the 2021 scholars finalists in May.
