Board Briefs November 2, 2020

Highlights from the November 2, 2020 Board of Education meeting include:

The November 2, 2020 Board of Education meeting was held in person in the Naperville Central High School Cafeteria with social distancing mandates in place

Superintendent Bridges shared good news with the community including:

The College Board's National Hispanic Recognition Program is an academic honor that can be included on college applications.  Colleges use it to identify academically exceptional Hispanic/Latino students. To be considered for this honor a student must take the PSAT/NMSQT in October of their junior year; be at least one-quarter Hispanic/Latino; Achieve the minimum required PSAT/NMSQT Selection Index score; and earn a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher by the middle of junior year.  Congratulations to the following students who have met the criteria for consideration in the National Hispanic Recognition Program: Adam Aldaba, Cesar Maldonado, Jr. (both from NCHS) and Rosalia Viton (NNHS).

To be considered for this honor a student must take the PSAT/NMSQT in October of their junior year; must identify as African American; Achieve the minimum required PSAT/NMSQT Selection Index score; and earn a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher by the middle of junior year.  Congratulations to the following students who have met the criteria for consideration in the National African American Recognition Program: Maya Mikos and Skye Sparks (both from NCHS) and Kira Gambla (NNHS).

The Board took action by consent on the following:

  • Adoption of Personnel Report
  • Aramark Amended Contract
  • Resolution Designating Interest Earnings
  • Resolution to Regulate Expense Reimbursements

The Board heard presentations on the following:

  • Return to Learn Update
  • Naperville CUSD 203 Report Card Update-ESSA
  • Title IX Review

The Board held discussion without action on the Capital Improvement plan.  Buildings and Grounds Director, Pat Dolan, presented the detailed five year capital improvement plan that is reviewed annually. 

The Board held discussion with action regarding the Illinois Association of School Board Resolutions. The Board members voted to support Resolution 2 Gun Storage as it is written. They voted to not support Resolution 7 Local Support of Pandemic. They voted to approve the remainder of the Resolutions.
