Araceli Ordaz Appointed as Principal of Maplebrook Elementary School

The Naperville Community Unit School District 203 Board of Education appointed Ms. Araceli Ordaz as principal of Maplebrook Elementary School at the June 3, 2019 meeting.

Currently, Ordaz is the Director of Elementary Education at East Aurora School District 131 and was previously an elementary principal at Joliet School District 86. There she supervised a faculty that served nearly 600 students and worked closely with them to implement Professional Learning Communities and to develop strategic school improvement goals. Prior to that, Ordaz was the Director of English Language Learners at CUSD 200 Wheaton-Warrenville, ELL Coordinator and classroom teacher at Joliet Public Schools 86.

“My experiences at the district level have shaped my understanding of curriculum and instruction, organization management and school improvement,” said Ordaz. “However, I miss serving families at the building level and the ability to work alongside students and staff to have a direct connection to boost student growth in learning.”

“Ms. Ordaz brings a wealth of experience to Naperville 203 through her various roles in education including building and district leadership,” said Superintendent Dan Bridges. “We are excited to see her passion and experience in action at Maplebrook Elementary.”

Ordaz has a Bachelor of Science in Management Information Systems from University of Illinois, Master of Education with a Teacher Certification from University of St. Francis, Master of Education in Education Leadership from Northeastern Illinois University, and a Bilingual/ESL Endorsement from National Louis University. Ordaz will begin her new role at Maplebrook Elementary School on July 1, 2019. She will replace Principal Ryan DeBora.
