Highlights from the March 18, 2019 Board of Education meeting include:
Maplebrook Elementary School led the Board of Education in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Superintendent Dan Bridges recognized Mission Maker Richie Holmberg from NCHS who raised nearly $2700 for Naperville Education Foundation after creating t-shirts commemorating the 2018-2019 Snow Days. Also recognized tonight as a Mission Maker was Scott Elementary School 2nd Grader, Joseph Madejczyk who sits next to another student in art class who has some physical special needs. Without prompting, Joey is always ready to support his friend.
Congratulations to the 2018 National Board Certified Teachers both new and renewals! National Board Certification, by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards, is one of the most prestigious credentials a teacher can earn.
Good news announced included NNHS State Table Tennis Championship, third year in a row. Also, State Speech Champion Brian Zheng who won for Extemporaneous Speaking and Impromptu Speaking.
Assistant Superintendent Patrick Nolten provided the BOE an Academic Assessment Update.
The Board of Education approved the following agenda items:
The motion to transfer of funds for debt abatement and the debt service levy.
The authorization to reduce 2018 aggregate extension by $2 million.
New high school course offerings. All new courses will be implemented during the 2020-2021 school year.
