Naperville 203 Announces Jay Wachtel as Interim Principal of Naperville North High School

We are thrilled to announce that Jay Wachtel has been approved by the Board of Education as the Interim Principal of Naperville North High School, effective immediately. Jay, who holds an MA in Educational Leadership from Northern Illinois University and an MA in Global Studies in Education from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, has been a dedicated member of the Naperville North community since 2002. His extensive experience and deep commitment to the school make him exceptionally qualified to lead our school during this transitional period.

Jay has served in various roles at Naperville North, including Business teacher, Career and Technical Education Department Chair, and Assistant Principal of Operations. During the 2020-2021 academic year, he successfully took on the role of Interim Principal while Ms. Posey addressed needs at the district office. His extensive experience and proven leadership make him an invaluable asset to our school.

Before joining the Huskies, Jay taught at Hinkley High School in Aurora, Colorado, for two years and at Libertyville High School in the northern suburbs for three years. His journey in education began as an undergraduate student at Illinois State University, where he earned his BA in Marketing and Business Education.

Residing in Naperville, Jay and his wife, Jen, are proud parents of NNHS Huskie graduates Megan and Jack. Outside of school, Jay enjoys cycling and spending time in downtown Chicago.
