Academic Proficiency & Growth Suggest Recovery Toward Pre-Pandemic Performance
All 21 of Naperville 203’s K-12 schools have been deemed “Exemplary” or “Commendable” by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE), with new data showing students' academic growth is rebounding and on track to full recovery following the learning loss associated with the COVID-19 pandemic.
The summative designations were shared as part of ISBE release of the 2021-2022 Illinois School Report Cards. Twelve schools received the “Exemplary” designation, while nine were designated as “Commendable.” The Ann Reid Early Childhood Center and the Connections Transition Program are not part of the designation process.
“I am so proud to see the hard work of our outstanding Naperville 203 staff members continues to result in high levels of growth and achievement for our students,” Superintendent Dan Bridges said. “While we will continue to work to improve, receiving designation levels of “Exemplary” and “Commendable” in all of our schools proves that our team’s hard work is truly making a difference in the lives of our students.”
ISBE’s summative designations measure progress in academic, school quality, and student success. “Exemplary” schools perform in the top 10 percent of schools statewide with no underperforming student groups; while “Commendable” schools have no underperforming student groups and a graduation rate greater than 67 percent, with a performance that is not in the top 10 percent of schools statewide.
