Financial Aid (FAFSA) Updates

Class of 2024 Seniors,

Please read the important information below, regarding financial aid updates, our FAFSA Workshop, & scholarships.

FAFSA Updates
As you may have heard in the last week, the Dept. of Education updated their timeline for when colleges will begin receiving FAFSA data for students. The new timeline estimates that colleges & universities won't receive students' FAFSA data until "mid-to-late March." This will have an impact on the college financial aid timeline, which may also impact the timeline for students to commit to their prospective schools.

The National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) has released a statement regarding the delayed FAFSA processing. You can read more about how colleges & universities are adapting to the delay in this Inside Higher Ed article. Even with these delays, we strongly recommend that families planning to complete the FAFSA do so as early as possible, to prevent any additional delays in processing, once the information is released to colleges & universities.

State of Illinois Financial Aid Graduation Requirement
In addition to other graduation requirements, a student must complete a financial aid graduation requirement in order to receive their Illinois public school diploma (the FAFSA, the Illinois Alternative Application, or a Nonparticipation Form). You can read more about this requirement and how you can fulfill it in our  Financial Aid Graduation FAQ .

Feb 22: Rescheduled FAFSA Completion Workshop
Our postponed FAFSA Completion Workshop has been rescheduled for  Thursday, Feb. 22 from 5:00p - 7:00p. If you would like to attend this workshop, please register here. Even if you registered for the previous date, we need you to re-register for the new date.
