This week, Naperville 203 lost a giant in our history - Mr. Ron Gibson.
Ron’s long history with Naperville 203 started as a student teacher at Lincoln Junior High School. Upon graduation from North Central College in 1966 he came back to Lincoln as a teacher. After his time at Lincoln, Ron went on to be the Principal of Beebe Elementary from 1970 until 1972. Continuing his upward trajectory, Ron became the Director of Personnel until 1977. With the District rapidly expanding, Ron opened Steeple Run Elementary School as the first principal in 1977. Ron headed back into District administration in 1982, becoming the Associate Superintendent of Elementary Education and served in that role until his retirement in 2004.
Ron’s service to this District was long and fruitful. In 2008, Steeple Run Elementary School was dedicated to Ron. Throughout the District, we have many staff members, including a number of administrators, who remember Ron fondly. Ron’s contributions to the District were significant and he will be forever remembered as a founding father of the Naperville 203 we know today.
