Naperville Community Unit School District 203 has partnered with the University of Illinois and SHIELD Illinois to provide non-invasive COVID-19 saliva testing at each of our schools with an anticipated launch beginning the week of September 27. This will be available for students whose parents/guardians have chosen not to opt-out of testing.
SHIELD Illinois is a screening and diagnostic testing program that deploys the University of Illinois’ PCR covidSHIELD RT-PCR saliva test for both vaccinated and unvaccinated students and is free to all school districts in Illinois. The intention of providing this opportunity is to maximize our ability to keep students in school and minimize instructional time loss. The testing results will be communicated in approximately 24 hours to parents/guardians (see below for instructions on accessing results), the school district, and the Illinois Department of Public Health.
To familiarize your student(s) with the saliva testing procedure, you may wish to view the following video. Depending on your student’s developmental level, you may wish to access the following social story. The saliva-testing process will be conducted by our operational partner, HRSupport.
Directions regarding how to establish a Family Portal Account to access test results may be found here. When initially establishing the parent/guardian account, you will need to provide our Agency Code (Our Agency Code is df5brbrj). For support establishing portal access, please call (217) 265-6059. For additional information regarding this testing, please visit SHIELD.
At Ellsworth School, testing will take place on Thursdays between 8:30-10:30 a.m. A staff member will help facilitate, and students will be tested in small groups to minimize any time out of the classroom.
Please call the main office (630) 420-6338 should you have any questions about testing.
