  • End of the Year

Posted by Karen Buell on 5/22/2020 4:00:00 PM

    Maplebrook families,

Where has the time gone? I remember Popsicles with the Principal like it was yesterday. That was a day full of excitement to begin the school year. Now at the end of this year I am filled with pride and appreciation. I am so honored to be Maplebrook’s principal.

Thank you for a wonderful and productive school year.  I can’t thank everyone enough for your endless hours of volunteering, chaperoning, reading, being a guest speaker, organizing, donating and doing whatever was necessary to support our students—both at home and at school.  Special thanks to our Home & School executive board and committee chairs who went above and beyond the call of duty to provide whatever was necessary to add to our students’ rich school experience.

I know this year couldn’t be as successful without the endless energy, skills and devotion of the Maplebrook staff.  They are an incredible group of professionals that continued to impress throughout the year.

Best wishes to our fifth graders, whom I will miss greatly—I hope they come back and visit.  Everyone have a safe and happy summer break. Until next school year, here’s wishing you laughter, fun and learning.

Thanks for the collaboration and support.

Monday kicks off our student supply pickup with last names M-R. Our staff has cleaned out all areas of the school to bag student items. We ask for your flexibility and patience as we move our car line along as quickly and efficiently as possible. Please remember that you will not exit the car, rather you will open your trunk from inside the car.  You can find the full procedures under the first news item on this page titled "

  • May is here!

    Maplebrook families:

Another week down and another update coming your way. Remote learning can be tough and for some reason the weeks still seem to be flying by. Can you believe May is here?  While I know this continues to be a difficult time for our community, I continue to be impressed with our teachers’ planning, our students’ hard work and our parents adaptability.

  • Continued Remote Learning and Planning for Next Year

Posted by Karen Buell on 4/24/2020 4:00:00 PM

    Maplebrook families:

We are saddened that the end of the school year will not go as we had planned but we do understand how important it is to make sure that everyone’s health and wellbeing is a priority. That being said, our staff will continue to create learning opportunities to stay engaged with their students while remaining available to you to support throughout remote learning.

Believe it or not, we are planning for our next school year already. Thank you to all of you that have already enrolled your students for next year. If you haven’t already, please submit your online enrollment as soon as possible.  The Online Annual Update for returning families must be completed by May 11, 2020. This information is used to place students on class lists and helps us make staffing decisions.

Thank you for your collaboration and support.

  • Remote Learning

Posted by Karen Buell on 4/6/2020 4:00:00 PM

    Maplebrook families:

We hope that you found some ways to unwind as a family during Spring break. I know that in my own household, we got re-acquainted with Uno, charades, family movie night, cooking together and getting into a routine of taking walks outside.

As you know we will be transitioning into Remote Learning tomorrow and therefore this is a friendly reminder that chromebooks and other devices should be charged and ready to go.

We are eager to connect and get your students back on a learning schedule. We hope you are too. If you ever have any questions about your students’ learning please do not hesitate to reach out to the classroom teacher.

Thank you for your collaboration and support.

  • Heading into Spring Break

Posted by Karen Buell on 3/27/2020 4:00:00 PM

    Maplebrook families:

We hope that you have found that this week has gone a little easier with getting accustomed to E-learning. I know that we continue to meet as a staff virtually to continue to make sure we stay abreast of student learning. We are so impressed at the work our students have completed as they have persevered through this new learning environment.

Spring break is upon us and we are looking forward to the week off. We hope that you find ways to unwind and relax as a family as well.

I would be remiss if I didn’t extend a long overdue thank you to Nikki Godfrey and Emily McBroom for the amazing work to make this year’s Adult Social a huge success. We know that an event like this can’t happen without the numerous volunteers, attendees, and those that donated an item or cash that in turn made this a stellar year in raising funds for Maplebrook. On behalf of the staff, we would like to extend our gratitude and appreciation. We are so proud to be part of this glorious community.

Thank you for your collaboration and support.

  • Unexpected Experience in eLearning

Posted by Karen Buell on 3/20/2020 4:00:00 PM

    Maplebrook families:

It has been quite a week and we are wishing you and your family well. I know I speak on behalf of our staff when I say that we miss seeing our students and all of you.

We are incredibly appreciative of the support we received as we embarked on navigating E-learning for the first time. The kind messages and words of appreciation mean so much to us, probably more than you will ever know.

Our teachers have done an amazing job to create lessons that will help students’ continue to learn over this time period. We know that you all are doing some heavy lifting to make sure students have routine and are getting engaged in E-learning. Thank you for all your hard work as you too navigate these unchartered waters.

We encourage you to use this time to connect with your children and even try to have some fun. One way we are encouraging some fun is to encourage our Wildcats to participate in Virtual Spirit Week next week. If comfortable please post pics with #wearemaplebrook and #together203 so that we can see our spirited Wildcats as they are E-learning. Thank you Home & School for your partnership in this endeavor.

There is nothing we cannot do, as long as we continue to connect with family, friends and collaborate with one another. Please let us know if you need our help. Here is a link to community resources for those that may need extra support during this time.

Have a great week and take care of yourselves.

  • Concerts and Conferences

Posted by Karen Buell on 3/4/2020 4:00:00 PM

    Maplebrook families:

Yesterday our Maplebrook Wildcats in Band, Chorus and Orchestra performed for the school and once again in the evening for families. Our students had two amazing performances, they sang and played beautifully. Our music staff, Dr. Carroll, Mr. Gross and Mrs. Tomei, have done a fantastic job helping our students develop as young musicians and singers.

We are looking forward to seeing you over the next two days for parent-teacher conferences. Conferences present a wonderful opportunity for teachers, parents and, in some cases, students to sit down together to discuss academic and social emotional progress. Please contact your child’s classroom teacher, if you plan to be out of town. We are happy to accommodate a phone conference.

Thanks for the continued collaboration and support.
