  • Redhawk Ramblings 2/24/20

    GENERAL INFO.

    • Come see this year’s musical Mamma Mia! Shows are this Friday at 7:30pm, Saturday at 2:30pm and 7:30pm, and Sunday at 2:30pm in the NCHS Auditorium. Tickets are $8/students and seniors and $12/adults.
    • The Annual Redhawk Staff v. Student Basketball Game is on March 11th. The Student team entry fee is $100. Sign-ups begin Friday, Feb 14th.  See Mrs. Watson in B17 with any questions. See you on the court!
    • How much will you give me to shave my head?  This is the question you can ask your friends and family after signing up for this year’s St. Baldricks Day.  There's only one month to go, so sign up today at St. Baldricks.org.  See Mr. Strausberger with questions.
    • It's time to get the band back together for the 2020 Marching Redhawks Fall marching season! Join us on Monday March 16th at 7PM in the Band Room for our orientation/informational meeting. We are looking for students interested in Brass, Woodwind, Percussion and Colorguard. Marching band is extra-curricular and open to all NCHS students! Contact Mr. Estes in the Band office (Rm. 83) for more information. Hope to see you on March 16th and bring a friend!

    TUESDAY 2/25/20

    Multicultural Club members: We are meeting to discuss audition selections on Tuesday February 25 7:10 am Room 35. Please attend!

    ATTENTION SPECIAL OLYMPICS TRACK PEERS!  We will have a mandatory informational meeting on Tuesday February 25 after school in Room 34.  Please see Mrs. Hagenbaumer if you have questions. 

    Mystery club will be meeting Tuesday after school in room 108! Dealing with mysteries from the mundane to the unexplained. And the rest? Well… that’s a mystery.

    ASL club will be meeting on Tuesday in room 126 at 3:30. Any questions see Ms.Bagal

    ATHLETIC INFO.

    Anyone interested in trying out for the boys golf team next fall there will be a meeting 2/25/20 at 7am in room 203. If you cannot make it please see Coach Baldwin.

    Girls softball tryouts begin Monday, March 2.  All levels trying out should be in the fieldhouse at 3:30 on Monday, March 2. Make sure you pick up your yellow card from the Athletic office this week. If you have any questions, see Mr. Nussbaum, Mr. Ortiz, or Mr. Lago.

    AUDITION INFO.

    Audition for Theatre Central's spring mainstage play, Radium Girls. Auditions will be held Monday, March 2nd and Tuesday, March 3rd after school. Sign up for an audition time by the TC mailbox outside of the auditorium.

    • Multicultural Show Auditions are Tuesday February 11th and Thursday February 13th from 3:30-5:30 pm in the Little Theater. Fill out the form at tinyurl.com/MCCaudition2020 by Monday February 10th and look for the flyers posted around school. Email Mrs. Kainrath or Mrs. Jansen with questions.

    • Sophomore and Juniors students and their families are encouraged to attend College Planning Night on Tuesday, February 18th at 6:30pm in the Auditorium. Mark your calendar! The event will begin with an introduction from counselors and then you will have the opportunity to choose three different breakout sessions to hear from admissions representatives about finding the right college fit! This event is always fun and informational. We hope to see you there!

    Multicultural Show Auditions are Tuesday February 11th and Thursday February 13th from 3:30-5:30 pm in the Little Theater.

    Attention all baseball players. There is a meeting on Tuesday, February 11th for everyone trying out for baseball. The meeting is at 7:10 am in the College and Career Center which is located in the library. Please bring your Chromebook.  See Coach Stock or Coach Silva with questions.

    THURSDAY 2/13/20

    Spanish Club will be meeting in the foods lab after school on Thursday to celebrate Dia del Amor y Amistad.  We will be baking and decorating cookies as well as making cards for family and friends.  All are welcome!

    ATHLETIC INFO.

    Attention those interested in joining the boys gymnastics team this year. Open gym will be held after school from 3:30pm to 5:00pm in the gymnastics gym from February 10th to 14th. Season starts on Monday February 17th.

    Baseball Preseason conditioning will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings from 6-8 PM – meet on the Main Gym balcony.

    GENERAL INFO.

    • Get excited for this year’s winter theme of Ode to the 2000’s. The dance is all about remembering the past before heading into the new decade. Tickets will be on sale for $20 from February 3 to February 7 during all lunch periods. Tickets can also be purchased for $25 at the door on the day of the dance, February 8. Hope to see you there! Give Away’s for dress up days will be Tuesday through Thursday!

    • Staff and Students, St. Baldricks Day is coming back to NCHS on March 11th.  Now is the time to be brave, be bold, and shave your head to show support and raise money for childhood cancer research.  Go to St. Baldricks.org and search Naperville Central, or stop by our lunch table next week for more information.
    • Mr. NCHS is finally here! The theme for this year is Mr. NCHS saves the world! The show is Wednesday February 5th at 7:00 PM. Tickets are on sale during all lunch periods in the cafeteria and are 5$. Buy your ticket now and don't miss the biggest event of the year!

    TUESDAY 2/4/20

    If you know how to use a cell phone, you can make a tremendous impact on your community. Join the Kids Care to Help club and visit retirement centers to answer the elderly’s questions about how to use their iphones, ipads, and computers. Its fun, it’s easy, and it’s rewarding. For more information, come to our meeting tomorrow morning at 7:15am, in room 52. New members are more than welcome. There will be donuts!

    Attention speech team members: Come to the team meeting tomorrow after school in room 214 to vote for next year's captains and executive board!

    There will be an informational meeting for all boys interested in playing water polo this spring, on Monday, February 10 @7:15AM on the pool deck. If you cannot attend please see Coach Salentine in the pool office for details.

  • Redhawk Ramblings 1/27/20

    GENERAL INFO.

    • Kindness week at NCHS brought to us by our School Climate PLC team.  Please see the summary of events below.

    Monday

    Cafeteria table top discussion prompts (staff too) will begin Monday and will continue throughout the week.  Staff are welcome and encouraged to join in on the fun.  You’ll also notice kindness based music selections during the music minute all week.

    Tuesday

    Card making stations will be available in the Cafeteria and Learning Commons for anyone who wants to send an uplifting note to someone.

    Wednesday

    Sticker day!  Please distribute the - (Be3) Kind stickers provided (they will be in mailboxes next week) to students in your period 2 class.  We’ll also have an announcement at the beginning of 2nd period with an explanation for students.

    Thursday

    Card making stations will be available in the Cafeteria and Learning Commons for anyone who wants to send an uplifting note to someone.

    MONDAY 1/27/20

    Theatre Central's One Acts festival. Auditions will be held after school on Monday, January 27th and Tuesday Jan. 28th. Sign-up sheets are posted on the TC board outside the English office on the 2nd floor. Descriptions of the plays can be found on the Theatre Central website and on the sign-up sheets.     TUESDAY 1/28/20

    Want to audition for an act in this year's Multicultural Show or find out what the Multicultural Show is all about? Please attend a meeting on Tuesday, January 28th, 7:10 am Room 35. We will be sharing information about audition days and times and how to sign-up! Also look for information on the tv screens throughout the school.

    FRIDAY 1/31/20

    This is the LAST WEEK to submit your writing and art to the Literary Magazine. Upload to our nchslitmag student e-mail or drop off in the library. Deadline is this Friday.

    Do you need service hours? Are you interested in combating our global crisis? Come to WAVE clubs ecobrick party! We will be meeting up on January 31st at 6 pm in the Cafe!!!     • There will be an informational badminton meeting on January 30 is room 220 after school at 3:15. Anyone interested in playing on the badminton teach should attend. Information is also on the TV's and Redhawk Ramblings. See Mrs. Tilt in room 220 with any questions.
    • There will be a bass fishing casting tournament on Saturday February 1st at Batavia High School. All studnents that are interested in fishing are welcome to join. Please contact Mr. Rauen in the Science office for more information.
