NAPERVILLE CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL
Dear Parents and Guardians:
We are looking forward to an exciting school year at NCHS that begins on August 16th. I’d like to encourage our students to do their best and bring a positive attitude with them each day during the school year. I encourage all students to participate in extra-curricular activities. Students involved in extra-curricular activities consistently earn higher GPA’s, exhibit better behavior, and form close and positive friendships. Here at Central 80% of our students participated in something before or after school last year. Take advantage of the many opportunities offered at NCHS!
Parent involvement is one of the ingredients that makes NCHS a special place. Our Home & School Association is one example of an organization in which you can become involved and take an active role in helping to make this a great place for students. Please consider becoming a member by purchasing the Home & School Student Directory and return the volunteer sign-up sheet at registration. We rely on your help!
Please consider making a $25 donation to the Naperville Education Foundation (NEF). The NEF provides grants to teachers for special projects and assists students and families with financial hardships. If you choose to donate to the NEF, please know that all donations go back to our schools to support or enhance learning for NCHS and District 203 students.
Please make plans to pay your school fees when you arrive at registration in August. YOUR STUDENT’S FEE STATEMENT WILL BE MAILED SEPARATELY. Details regarding options and how to make your payment are included in this packet. Also, be aware that student ID pictures will be taken at registration. Students should dress appropriately and according to the NCHS school dress code when arriving at registration. This picture is also used for the yearbook photo. Our school dress code is consistent with the dress code at the junior highs and parents are encouraged to review and support this code with your students.
Parking has always been a challenge at NCHS. We will continue to emphasize that students need to exhibit safe behavior when crossing Aurora Avenue, Hillside, or West Street. Student safety is our number one priority and our parking dilemma sometimes results in students taking unnecessary risks and crossing through dangerous traffic. Please encourage your student to ride the bus, car pool, or ride their bikes to school to help with our limited parking situation.
Take advantage of Open House on Wednesday, August 22nd and other opportunities to visit NCHS. We are extremely fortunate to have an outstanding and dedicated staff, a great student body, and parents who value a quality education. Let’s all do our best to contribute to NCHS, treat others respectfully and make the most of our time at Naperville Central High School!
