EC-12 Curriculum Overviews

Purposeful Instruction

Purposeful Instruction is District 203’s approach to designing learning that is aligned to standards, appropriately rigorous, and responsive to students’ needs. Teachers begin with clear learning expectations and intentionally plan instruction, learning experiences, and evidence of learning that help students build understanding, deepen their thinking, and apply their learning. This shared approach connects curriculum, instruction, and assessment to support meaningful learning and growth for all students.

Curriculum Overviews

The resources below provide information about the learning that guides instruction across District 203. Access to the Illinois learning standards and mandated units of study are linked for each grade band and serve as the foundation for curriculum development. For grades K–8, curriculum overviews provide a high-level look at the major units, topics, and learning experiences across the school year. At the high school level, the Program Planning Guide provides information about courses, graduation requirements, career pathways, and academic and postsecondary planning.
