Our History
The idea of SUCCESS was started in 2010 when Kevin Pops, the then Principal of Naperville North, approached parents of African American/ Black students because of concerns at the school. These concerns included: (1) the achievement gap, (2) social- emotional issues, and (3) lack of a sense of community. In 2012, SUCCESS began conducting programming at Naperville North High School.
Since then SUCCESS has established additional chapters at Beebe, Elmwood, Mill St, Scott, Steeple Run, Jefferson, Kennedy, and Madison. SUCCESS presents district-wide and chapter level events and is in the process of creating cluster programming to support students and families at schools that don’t currently have chapters.
