School closures and late starts will be announced by 5:45 AM on the home page of this website and through the District’s Talk203 notification system (encompassing email, SMS and telephone calls). (Click here for more information on Talk203).
Parents will ONLY receive notice if schools are starting late, dismissing early or closed, otherwise the day will proceed as usual. Please recognize that no system is foolproof; a power outage or extreme demand on these systems could affect access to communications technologies.
Any student who receives transportation through Naperville School District 203, including those who attend parochial schools and out-of-district facilities, will not be transported in the event that school is closed. In such cases, students will receive an excused absence, so there is no obligation for parents to transport their students to school that day.
Please note that to receive an SMS (mobile text) message, you must specifically provide your SMS number for your student records. District 203 does not assume that cell phone numbers are authorized to receive text messages. See the Infinite Campus Help FAQ page for information on ways to provide an SMS number using your parent account on the Infinite Campus Portal.
In addition, school closures and late starts are reported to the Emergency Closing Center, which broadcasts the information on the following Chicago stations: WGN-AM (720), WBBM-AM (780), and CBS-TV (2), NBC-TV (5), ABC-TV (7), WGN-TV (9), FOX-TV, and CLTV cable.
Families may also call the District Administrative Offices at (630) 420-6300 to hear a recorded telephone message concerning a school closing or late start.

Late Start
Naperville School District 203 will continue to run a late start schedule for all schools on severe weather days. The late start schedule provides the flexibility to begin school two hours later than normal, allowing time for roads to be cleared and temperatures to rise. This alternative eliminates a situation where severe weather in the early morning leads to a decision to close schools for an entire day when it is not warranted.
On late start schedule days, District buses will arrive at the scheduled pick-up points two hours later than their regularly-scheduled time. Students who walk or drive to school should arrive at (not prior to) the times listed below. In the event a late start schedule is utilized, class periods will be shortened to accommodate a shorter day but dismissal times will not change. Sodexo, our food service provider, will continue to serve meals as usual.
On late start days, parents and staff are encouraged to continue to monitor this website for updates on the status of after-school activities. Information will be posted no later than 2 PM.
The late start schedules are as follows:
Kindergarten, Extended Day Kindergarten and Early Childhood
AM Kindergarten and AM Early Childhood will be canceled.
ALL students who participate in an Extended Day Kindergarten program will board their buses at the Late Start time of two hours later than usual or should arrange for drop off at 10:00 AM.
PM Kindergarten drop off will be at the usual time, with school starting at 12 PM. Dismissal for PM Kindergarten will remain at 2:30 PM.
Elementary Schools
Drop off will be at 10:00 AM with a 10:15 school start. Dismissal will remain at 2:30 PM.
Junior High Schools
Drop off will be at 9:30 AM; school will start at 10:00. Classes will be reduced with certain periods rearranged in order to maintain the same lunch times. Dismissal will remain at 2:50 PM.
High Schools
Drop off will be at 9:00 AM; school will start at 9:30 AM (one hour and 45 minutes later than usual). Class periods and lunch periods will be reduced. Dismissal will remain at 3:10 PM. If possible, those who participate in programs at the Technology Center of DuPage will be transported to and from Addison.
Connections Program
Drop off will be at 10:00 AM with a 10:15 start. Dismissal remains at 2:40 PM
YMCA’s Safe ‘n Sound Program
AM programs will not be offered; PM programs will be in session.
Special Education and Out-of-District Programs
A separate email will be sent to families regarding how these programs will be affected.
Field trips will be cancelled as will all intra-school transportation.
