Late starts or closing of the entire District due to inclement weather, or of one school only (such as for a broken pipe), will result in the late start or closing being posted on the District 203 website home page as well as a Talk203 phone call, email and SMS (mobile text) message being sent to all parents (click here for more information on Talk203). A recorded message regarding the closing will be available on the District 203 Administrative Center's main telephone line, 630-420-6300. In addition, if an individual school closes for any reason, that information will also be posted on the school website. See the Links to Schools page for links to school sites.

Parents will ONLY receive notice if schools are starting late, dismissing early or closed, otherwise the day will proceed as usual. Please recognize that no system is foolproof; a power outage or extreme demand on these systems could affect access to communications technologies.

Any student who receives transportation through Naperville School District 203, including those who attend parochial schools and out-of-district facilities, will not be transported in the event that school is closed. In such cases, students will receive an excused absence, so there is no obligation for parents to transport their students to school that day.

Please note that to receive an SMS (mobile text) message, you must specifically provide your SMS number for your student records. District 203 does not assume that cell phone numbers are authorized to receive text messages. See the Communications Systems page for detailed information on ways to provide an SMS number.

Late Start

Naperville School District 203 has implemented a late start schedule for all schools on severe weather days. The late start schedule provides the flexibility to begin school two hours later than normal, allowing time for roads to be cleared and temperatures to rise.  This alternative eliminates a situation where severe weather in the early morning leads to a decision to close schools for an entire day when it is not warranted.

On late start schedule days, District buses will arrive at the scheduled pick-up points two hours later than their regularly-scheduled time. Students who walk or drive to school should arrive at (not prior to) the times listed below. In the event a late start schedule is utilized, class periods will be shortened to accommodate a shorter day but dismissal times will not change. Sodexho, our food service provider, will continue to serve meals as usual.
