Virtual Backpack (vB203) Guidelines

District 203 often receives requests from other organizations to distribute informational materials to students. Suitability and approval are at the discretion of District 203; please be advised that we are very selective in allowing items to be distributed through our communication systems. Requesting organizations must be located within our boundaries.

vB203 logoThis school year, District 203 is going "green" by launching a new approach to distributing information from non-profit organizations, intergovernmental agencies and business partners which has been previously approved to share with our students and their families. Rather than sending flyers via backpack mail (which previously took place only at the elementary level), we will be posting such information on a Virtual Backpack webpage for all to see. It is estimated that this will save nearly 2,000 hours per year in sorting and handling of these materials, not to mention trees and other important resources.

In the initial stages of implementing this new system, weekly notices will be sent to all Talk203 participants, reminding them that flyer information is posted on our Virtual Backpack (vB203) web page. Those wishing to submit information to be posted must do so electronically by emailing a completed vB203 Flyer Request Form (Word, 26 KB) and a PDF of the flyer to Dee Grier (dgrier@naperville203.org) at least ten days in advance of the desired posting date.

We ask that organizations limit postings to one per month, with a two-month limit for any one item. Approved postings will be updated on a weekly basis. Complete details are listed in the vB203 Distribution Guidelines document.

Limited Print Materials

Upon District approval, and at the discretion of each building administrator, a limited number of materials may be made available in the main office and/or posted as appropriate. It will be up to the requesting organization to provide paper copies to each school in a timely manner. It is not possible for schools to make additional copies or to distribute to individual classrooms/students.

Approved posters will be limited to 5 at the elementary level, 10 at the junior high level and 15 at the high school level, delivered to the front office by the group making the request.
