Whitelisting: what to do if you're not receiving Talk203 email
District 203 has several methods of communication available to its stakeholders: i-Parent, a web-based system enabling parents to access student-specific information; and Talk203, a phone callout/e-mail system powered by Connect-ED.
i-Parent Student Information System
District 203 is pleased to offer i-Parent, an online system that provides access to student schedules, attendance, discipline and grades (where available). Parents and students each have their own separate i-Parent accounts. i-Parent is in use only at the high school and junior high school levels. However, parents with younger students will be able to access available information at the various participating schools as well.
It is important for parents to activate and use their own i-Parent account (instead of logging in through their student's account) because:
- Parents can update or add personal email addresses and work or cell phone numbers by changing preferences in i-Parent. These changes flow directly into our Student Information System and Talk203. See below for details.
- Parents can add a Text/SMS/Pager number to their personal information. In the event of an emergency, this number will be used by our Talk203 system to send a text message to that phone. See below for details.
- Parents can access information about all their students through their single i-Parent account; student accounts only contain that student's information.
Setting Up Parent Accounts
To initially activate parent accounts, parents of students in grades 6-12 receive printed one-time-use access keys. These access keys must be used in the school year they are issued; after that time they are null and void, and another key must be issued if parents wish to activate their account at a later date.
When entering your access key during your intial account registration, please take care to type the key EXACTLY as written. There are no spaces, and special characters such as curly and straight brackets must be entered correctly to complete the registration.
To access the system, please click the i-Parent graphic at the top of this web page. On the i-Parent login page, our 4-digit District number to enter is 9203.
Important note to AOL users: the AOL browser cannot be used with i-Parent. Please use other web browser software to register and access your i-Parent account.
Revising Personal Contact Information
Parents who have junior high and high school students are encouraged to update certain personal information online through i-Parent, such as email address, work and cell phone numbers. You may also add an additional phone number designated as “Text/SMS/Pager” that can be used for emergency text messaging to your cell phone. See How to update personal information through i-Parent (PDF, 247 KB) for detailed written instructions.
Parent personal contact information updates made for one student in the family will automatically apply to all students in the family; therefore, parents who add an SMS number for an older student will update this information for all their children through i-Parent.
Parents who only have students in elementary school, and thus do not have an i-Parent account, should contact their child's school directly to make these types of changes.
Parents whose oldest student is entering 6th grade in the upcoming school year will have printed one-time-use i-Parent access keys mailed to them in approximately the first week of August. At that time you may activate your i-Parent account and revise personal contact information online.
Please note that, at this time, it is only possible for one Text/SMS/Pager number per family to flow into Talk203 for emergency use, even though i-Parent allows for up to two numbers per family. To accommodate this, please determine what single Text/SMS/Pager number you wish to use for your family and insert that number for BOTH parents. We're working with the company that powers Talk203 to allow for two separate numbers to be used in the future.
Even if you have previously provided a cell phone number to the school, you must also specifically designate the same number again as your SMS number if you want to receive emergency text messaging. District 203 does not assume that cell phone numbers in student records are authorized to receive SMS text messages.
The addition of a Text/SMS/Pager number simply adds one additional avenue to be used for emergency notification. All phone numbers in a student's record will still receive a recorded call in an emergency, as in the past, and email notification will be sent as well. Please note that, depending upon your cell phone plan, charges for SMS text messaging may be incurred. SMS text messaging will only be used for emergency situations.
Some personal information cannot be changed through i-Parent, such as home phone number and address. If you wish to change information you do not see available, you must contact the main office of your child’s school (or the registrar at the high schools) to have these changes made in the Student Information System.
To obtain school phone numbers, please see the Links to Schools page.

Talk203 Telephone and E-mail Information System
In November of 2008, District 203 combined telephone callouts and sending of e-mail into one system, powered by Connect-ED. This system is used for emergency school closing information or other matters of urgency, as well as informational calls and e-mails regarding events in individual schools and throughout the District.
Talk203 for Custodial Parents/Guardians
Custodial parents/guardians of District 203 students are automatically included in messaging from the District and their student(s) school(s). Talk203, powered by Connect-ED, is tied into our Student Information System (SIS). There are no online Talk203 accounts to manage and school/grade changes each year are automatically implemented.
Revising Personal Contact Information
Because Talk203 is connected to data in our SIS, changes in email address must be made directly in your student's record. Parents may do this through their i-Parent account, as described on this page, or by calling the school directly. After the information is changed in the SIS, those changes will automatically flow into Talk203.
See Revising Personal Contact Information above for details.

Talk203 for Community Members
Non-custodial parents and community members with no students in District 203 are invited to sign up to receive community information sent by the District Communications Department. Home phone numbers of non-custodial parents are automatically included in any emergency phone messages sent through Talk203; however, additional non-custodial parent information, such as email address, work or mobile phone numbers, cannot be included. Please click the Community Talk203 graphic above to access the Talk203 for Community Members page with a link to the signup e-mail.
