Educational Philosophy: Accommodate all students. Make sure that the 75-80% of students "in the middle" do not get overlooked. To do this requires partnering with the Illinois Association of School Boards, the Illinois Education Association and others to resist the passage of unfunded mandates. I also encourage the relationship between our schools and community. We have wonderful resources in the hundreds of parents, local businesses and even retirees who contribute so much to our schools through their volunteer work. We should also look for ways that our schools can contribute back to the community. For example, we need to tailor internships to the changing needs of today's business and make sure they bring value to the business, as well as the student.
